i just replayed this game a second time after a bit of time to collect some of the achievements i missed the first time around and i really have to say I LOVE THIS GAME!

The word immersive really gets thrown around these days a lot, but for Metro it just hits the nail on the head. With its brilliant menu design you never feel taken out of the game. Instead of the game pausing and throwing you in front of an impossible to read map, Artyom actually takes one out of his pocket with just the most important information shown (and lets be honest this is really all you need) ... If you are low on health while fighting mutants, you can't just open your inventory and consume 80 wheels of cheese to fill up your health - no, you have to find the time to open your backbag and craft stims with the materials you have gathered in the last few hours ... Have you been crawling in the mud a lot - better clean your rifle or it will jam.

Being a art-student i am very much interested in design. It doesn't matter whether it is a member of the order, a friendly or hostile, or the world they all live in, everybody and everything has been designed perfectly, all fitting the theme of the game and looking drop dead gorgeous in the process (Colonal Millers design reigns supreme; his legs are great :D ). Even the UI has been handled brilliantly, showing you only the information you really need. Any other open world game (even some linear one) will fill the screen with a compass, minimap, etc. even though most players won't even notice them. Metro avoids this by making these situational functions into parts of Artyoms kit (as mentioned above with the immersive map design).

The moral system was like in the former games great fun, having (in my opinion) the best good ending out of all of them.

Lastly, the story. Saying it is amazing would be a major understatment. All the characters are well rounded. Even on my second playthrough the ending (without naming any spoilers) hit just as much.

I am already exicted for future 4A Games products and am thankful that we have been blessed with their games.
