Great atmosphere and music. The vibes are all there.
The gameplay is.... okay? Right now, I agree with several other reviews calling the combat movements "sluggish", and there isn't a huge difficulty, because there really aren't many things you can do, and screen prompts already show you exactly what is happening and how to respond to it.

The demo was too short to give an honest good review of the story, sadly.

Generally, I have a hard time giving this a full recommendation, but I would feel bad for having to leave a negative review. I hope the game incrementally builds on the elements of the demo, and the full game is better than this. For sure it has huge potential.

I really like this game. It's a huge step-up from many similar RPG Maker games. The system what you can actually do looks fleshed out, and there seems to be actual character progression.

I am looking forward to the full release.

A few positives:
- The dialog is very well written and engaging
- The characters are diverse, not simple stereotypes
- The artwork during dialogs heavily adds to the vibe, it's amazing to follow
- The whole UI looked very polished and good
- The game is 100% controller-friendly, no complaints here

A few things that popped up negatively during the demo:
- Nearly all actions at night dropped Morality. If you want to use your energy, you are kind of forced to go in the negative direction
- The demo ended without a single fight, which makes it hard to judge some of the most important parts of the gameplay
- Right now, it didn't look like there were any actual decisions or investment into any of the side characters. There was enough energy to chat with everyone, and nothing looked like it had consequences.

I am recommending this game, because it has a lot of potential and I can see this being really, really fun for hours on end.

I am including notes I have written down while playing the demo, even though I haven't completely sorted through them. Hope ist still helps the devs, or people reading this to make an opinion.

I love the artstyle and music. I love the lore we can briefly experience even in the demo.
Some systems are still clunky, and I feel like a lot of sections in the demo are a bit too hard or too frustrating for the beginning. Sure, it's a metroidvania, and shouldn't be too easy, but with savepoints often being much farther away than in most hardcore platformers, it can get very frustrating to repeat the same sections again and again, just because you die against a group of mobs or a boss far later. Convenient save points for the harder fights might be a big help here.

# Alma Feedback
- No DPad nagivation in main menu
- Most menu DPad navigation is kinda not possible
- combination of resolution and framerate is tedious, there are like dozens of options to scroll through
- Why no unlocked framerate possible?
- No widescreen support (21:9)
- Mouse cursor visible all the time, even with active controller usage
- There could've been dialog or subtitles in the beginning scene. Dunno if its just for the demo, but it felt a bit like... disconnected to me what happened, until I could actually start to move
- An overview of the controls somewhere would be nice
- I am not 100% sure why enemies respawn when I leave a map and come back without dying. But it's not very bad, just.. dunno if it makes sense?
- If I make aerial attacks on an enemy, I have **NO** change to doge or parry. I understand that jump + dodge would likely break many movement considerations, but I should not be defenseless for any aerial attack. Even a simple option to be able to block, not parry, would be better than now. I just realized it exists, just an ability locked behind later skills. That is okay.


## Bugs
- Dialog with Harry often leads to empty dialog screen, no characters shown. Multiple confirmation presses later, it looked like dialog was skipped, but it continued. This happened multiple times during my demo run.

## Non-translated messages
- While in the air, Quantum Skip, press <rewiredElement type=""glyph"" playerId=0 actionName=""UILeftShift""> to 'skip' horizontally through objects, including lasers, without taking damage.

Gonna add my full review later. Right now, I just want to offset all the negative reviews.
Because like... yeah, the game might have optimization issues. Did you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ update your GPU drivers though? DID YOU?
God.
Yeah, could be this is unoptimized. But seriously.
This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing. It's so so much fun. The best Monster Hunter game I have played yet.

Difficulty. Great. Graphics. Dear god, woah. Controls? Man, they finally made it.
Why are people rating this low? Either they haven't tried to fight the graphics issues (don't blame them. But honestly, have you at least tried?)
It's easy. Sure. I mean. You have played World, right? The first dozen monsters aren't really a challenge. The game is easy. Dude. Think about it. The game is designed for beginners. You are complaining the start of the game is too easy for new hunters? Why are you here.
Performance is bad, graphics are washed out, monsters are tedious. I hear you. I don't agree. Move along. You have all the rights to think that way. I love the game, and I really, really want so see more. Goodbye, see you in the future.

Man, I love Monster Hunter.

The girls are kinda cute.

But seriously, this game is great. So much time you can spend in there, and it really gets hooked into the well-known "okay, just one more game" loop.
Also, how did Kay manage to balance it so well? It's crazy.

If you want to get honest reviews, please skip the ones by players with less than 2 hours.
Yes, this game can be difficult at the beginning, and I totally get that some game mechanics are frustrating and can look quite un-fun.

But most complaints about "unbalanced" characters can be countered by learning the game mechanics and how you can counter the specific characters.

Do in-fight assassinations need some kind of fixing? Yes, I think so.
Are they a big issue on higher levels? No, not really that much.
Assassinations are high commitment, and if you play as a team and work together, you can be quite safe.
One-shot attacks are annoying for many, I get that. But every other character has one-shots as well.
Assassinations have very few good counters, which is why I think they need some fixing. But whether they really are a big issue for you, you have to decide for yourself.

Besides that, this game is really fun, and very promising. I am looking forward to the new game modes and maps that will come.

I like games with a good and captivating story. This game has a good story.
I like games with beautiful graphics and a good art style. This game has that.

The voice actors did a great job bringing those characters alive. The story is sometimes a bit strange, like it doesn't really know where to go and what game this should be, but overall really solid.
The gameplay is neither amazing nor annoying, it works for me. It is fun at times, other times just keeps the tension high to enjoy the story better. Rarely it happened that I was annoyed by it. Especially when I had to do the same scenes over and over, listening to the same dialog over and over, because I did not grasp what I had to do, or just failed to do it. I don't fault the game for this, it was me being dumb, but it ripped me out of the flow and the story, which is sad for a story like this.

I am not good at writing reviews I think, but I can fully recommend this game. This is no triple-A title, and this game has a few weak points, but overall it is an amazing experience and a great story that everyone should play. And can play. This game is quite easy. Not "playable movie"-easy, but everyone who has done a 3D game can manage.

I found this game because of recommendations as "one of the most emotional games out there". It under-delivered a bit for me, maybe because of my really high hopes because of it, but the story was in no way bad. And yes, you will feel with the characters, the good and the bad.
I didn't cry, but I was sad.

Well done, Asobo Studio. Haven't heard from you before, but I will keep my eyes open now.
This game gets 8/10 from me.

Random addition:
I freaking love the accent the voice actor of Amicia has put into this game. It melted my heart.
Oh, and her hair is amazing.

2vs2 Brawl. One user named "TWITCHusername". My buddy looked up his stream while watching me play.
I am pretty newbie, haven't played in Closed Beta, but seemed to manage fine.

So I killed that streamer guy, and beheaded him. Heard the stream from my buddy in the background, he took it quite well. Next round, killed my opponent fast, sprinted to the other duel. streamer guy won his 1vs1, I attacked and killed him with a few blows. Beheaded him again. Now he was not amused.
Last round. Streamer guy in front of me. Guarded, started a chain, killed him. Choice of execution... you know what I chose.

10/10 would behead streamer guy again.
