Masterpiece!

Tormentum - Dark Sorrow is pure art from the beginning til the end, while firstly I thought the pattern might not hold long enough for dark point'n'click games are not so usual and faceless protagonist in a hood felt boring without personality. However as you proceed in the game it comes clear that it is you who paints who the hooded man is by your moral choices - you are destined to kill or spare, to break or prevail, to give or treasure, and always the question of doing the right thing remains after choices are made. This tension created by the dilemma and the dark, visually mesmerizing world where our hooded man is trying to find the statue they saw in a dream are so exciting combination that it should keep you on your seat. Background music is also worth noting!

The game is not long though and in about 4 hours I reached the climax which really made me feel and ponder. How good we people really are and is our conscience as pure as we want it to be? Did we do something in the past that hunt us in our dreams? Do we regret our choices and question if we could go back and choose more wisely? In the end your pureness will be weighted by your actions and final destination is revealed. This feature gives good excuse to replay and see all the possible endings and outcomes.

On first glance Tormentum - Dark Sorrow is terrifying and hellish, but ultimately a tale of regret, forgiveness and redemption. Highly recommend!

City of Nivalis, I love you so..

Cloudpunk deserves all the praise it has gotten for delivering an atmospheric open world adventure with witty dialogue between various different interesting characters and gripping in its players into deep story which make you to question and ponder your own moral choices.

The game is one of the best I have played recently and shows an example to us all how even a smaller team of indie developers can make a vast beautiful world with good sound design and atmosphere even when the graphics are cubic and simple. And while all you mainly do is running or driving from point a to point b it never felt boring when the screenplay is this good.

I recommend the game and its already released DLC expansion for everyone! ION LANDS has its name on the title which might be hands down the best Cyberpunk themed game in Steam atm.

Never really enjoyed it as much as I'd have expected. Too much confusion on puzzles and while action is decently retro it never held me on its grip for too long. There is some kind of story going on, but when the resources are limited the execution ain't that interesting and languishes rather than blossoms. Many other people like it though and I can't wonder for it is something that was super in mid 90s only everything is bigger and more complex. This just wasn't my cup of tea and rather stick with more modern FPShooters.

It's not perfect, but a lot better compared to the impression the overall reviews have given. I spent 20 hours in the Campaign and pros easily overwhelm the cons. For starters the fighting is entertaining - you swiftly gather few spells which is just enough to get over the frustrating part of the game where you might be bit confused what to do when you gather numerous objects and there are various ways to combine spells and sometimes a new spell or the combination with others might not be as good as the previous one ore combination.

Allow me to enlighten the things a bit. Firstly there are 8 different magic schools/styles and you start with 2 of them Fire and Ice - the rest are collected when you proceed. At once you can carry 3 of these styles at once but you are able to change these styles between checkpoints which are quite many. When you find a functioning combo go with that - sometimes though changes might work better. However each style is divided in three diffrent spells which are direct strike hitting one unit, area of effect spell and finally nova block, but there is more. All these 9 spells have also different modifications for example direct fire spell can be a ball which goes directly forward, but it can also act a bit like mortar hitting enemies from above or it can be a flamethrower giving a constant hit on close targets. These spells have also so many levels and bonus effects that there really is thousands of different ways to win the battles. 10th spell is the shield which affects critically how you play the game when some shields let you use nova spells as your block and counter attack others will give you ability to blink or teleport making you more vulnerable in close combat but more agile to avoid the blows from close and far. Note that if you pick the Agile type shield which I did the Nova block spell becomes quite useless because the blocking time window is negligible but quick blink compensates that. Moreover you can always switch using Strategic or Tactical Shield to make blocking possible again but sacrificing blinking.

You find these different spells by gathering magical essence from enemies, random corpses, visions from the past and various monuments which are like optional challenges giving you rewards if you defeat their guards. Some can be very difficult. You don't only collect spells but also spell parts and they both have different rarity levels and rank levels. Rarity levels go from normal to legendary and combining 3 legendary spells you can form unique spell which allows you to gain access to very very devastating magics like dropping a tiny meteorite, summoning a bone golem or causing a mini black hole.

So I have been babbling about magic system a while now and there would be still things to say but I rather let it be for I still didn't understand everything there was. All I say that the gameplay is fun and you really feel a badass battlemage if you concentrate on the spellcrafting and use brains and intuition when trying different approaches.

Outside of spellcasting the graphics are nice achieved with Cryengine and there was moderate amount of enemy types to keep me on my toes when needed. The game is heavily linear but few times there is some alternative paths and all levels have a kit of tiny caves, coves or crypts hiding treasures.

Worse thing in the game is the story. I have barely ever felt such indifference what is going on and this is mischievous because game tries to fountain something nice in the beginning but it turns ashes in the first few hours because your best pal and around 90 percently the only person you ever talk to is a guy who scouts a bit ahead and does not have anything interesting to say, there is no backstory, no chemistry between protagonist, nothing. Just some mutual goal to waste a bad guy Shax who has kidnapped the sister of the main hero and plans to conquer the world. There is also some good wizard guy who appears just few times and then withdraws appealing only in documents which you keep finding through the game and I never liked to read those out carefully. The game could have used deeper encounters with side characters, more meaningful dialogues and more fruitful character development outside of turning from jewelry blacksmith to ultimate warlock.

In conclusion Lichdom: Battlemage is quite forgotten gem from the past. Its unique character development is its trump card and no other game is known to me to be close to this. It may get repetitive in the end but lasted long enough not to waste it. If you can forgive the poor storyline and see this one in sale I do recommend to give it a try.

A very heart warming and all the way cute adventure game. My nomination of The Labor of Love -award goes for this because the devs have added free content a multiple times on this year and also made it playable on Netflix.

An honest remake of the ancient game, which ravished the world back in the last milenia creating a genre we know as Open World today. So how does the game actually hold up for gamers like me who don't have the nostalgia to enhance the experience. Quite well in fact - however, I'd tell as an allegory that if you put a brand new engine and a trunk on 50s Ferrari it still would lack things like modern suspension, automatic gearbox and power steering.

Let's start with the goodies. Graphics are very nice, different worlds are full of detail. Another praise goes for soundtrack which consists of very powerful mesmerizing melodic scores, which have could been ripped from AAA- Scifi movies and they are orignal ones! There is a lot to do and you can choose to concentrate only to the main mission or do side missions on the side as well, that provides you loot, and can also cause general disturbance on the enemy making the future missions easier for you. Quests vary a lot - sometimes you need to go hunting, sometimes finding specific ingredients, sometimes pure fighting etc. And all this was legit over 20 years ago! You are free to explore the world and collect loot like ammo, gadgets, different materials, which you can bring to blacksmiths to make extra ammunition. You also gather Zorkins which are the alien world's currency and are able to change it for weaponry and some quests need it as well. The world is open and only thing which can prevent you first of proceeding is the limited arsenal and overwhelming enemy numbers, but after rough start battles will get easier when you make progress in the story. And all this was legit 20 years ago!

Then some things which I might not dare say bad, but that haven't lasted the time so well or are beyond repair. One thing is a quite thin storyline for while the world is full of life and setting is interesting it still remains flat and saving two worlds did not feel as rewarding as it could have. There is some cut-scenes, but they felt a bit clumsy and outdated - more cinematic storytelling came into the games several years later and this might be the cause. However games with poor storylines are being developed even today so this is far from disaster.

Bigger problem is the gameplay - while Slade is an agile stud and can jump through roofs and obstacles the controls feel so stiff in comparison with Lara's or Ezio's acrobatics. Combat is also fair in its best. There is tiny feature of shooting from cover but mostly you just take contact with the hostiles and avoid their blasts with vertical movements and shooting them at the same time. Enemies do not have big strategies, but at least they take some cover time to time. There is few tools you can use such as the item which make you invisible for a while, an hologram that distracts enemies, normal c4, detonator, but I did not use these as much as I would have if the user interface were better. Pressing F- buttons and avoiding the bullets at the same time was awkward and usually I just ended up dying before I could execute my great plan. We must remember however that all this was legit over 20 years ago and those few times I succeeded felt very pleasing. Sniper rifle with sleeping darts was the only tactical device I felt always useful.

Some quests feel a bit outdated as well and you must do some boring backtracking and spent time running between different persons to get things done and few times I was so confused to understand the details that I just googled things to save up some time.

In conclusion Outcast - Second Contact is an enjoyable and very solid remake of a legendary and very old game. The game is stable and crashed hardly more than twice during playthrough of 20+ hours and did not have any bigger bugs. It might not be as wide as Mass Effect or as intensive as Halo, but it recreates the thing which was legit 20 years ago and does it well. There is even more to come when Outcast 2 will be released in near future! I hope that it will update the Outcast experience to the next level on today's standards and maybe beyond it!

I don't know what to think of this game. I guess this is some kind add-on to Heroes franchise which was really popular show around decade ago and I weren't a fan so the story was meh. However there was some certain features like controlling time and using it as tactical advantage. Few times my jaw dropped by realizing some new way to deal with enemies, like switching between time zones to jump behind enemies or doing things pacifist way and grapping my enemies one by one back in time where they cant hurt me, but still nothing groundbreaking because time manipulation in games has been a thing since Max Payne games and used later in, F.E.A.R., TimeShift, Singularity etc. There is also some puzzles, but nothing too complicated which is a waste of opportunity for there could have been much more. Gameplay is pretty straightforward and you go through different stages which don't feel like a continuum, but separate pieces pasted together. Glad that the game was as short as it was because I felt that I had seen everything already in the half way and while it might sound cool that later you meet some enemies that shoot you with rockets, which you can "uno reverse" the execution is not as exciting it may first seem. The worst thing was the final boss who is literally saying things like that "I won't let you destroy my work" and in the end he ends up destroying his own work by your cheap time tricks and he being so dumb not to change strategic approach.

The game is cheap but considering its torn and indifferent appearance I can't recommend it.
