2 steps forward on gameplay 1 step back on story. Holy Moses, I am talking like it is a new game despite being a decade old, damn the time flies fast. I am late with this third installment, but having beaten previous games this must be the most entertaining one and well-preserved. I did not always care so much of the story but when action is this fast paced and smooth I just didn't have much will to lower my weapons for too long until the credits roll. This must be the closest I ever become to Clint Eastwood's character in Dollar Trilogy at least on moves.

Have you ever gone walking in a forest in a warm cloudy summer Sunday? Having a warm cup of coffee after that and making yourself comfortable on your favorite chair and scroll your SoMe history and same time being more or less mindful what are you gonna do next week?

Lake has this feeling, it is peaceful, safe and sound which doesn't lean too much on complexity rather being on the edge of simplicity. There is not big twists, no huge drama no people getting killed. It's just about two weeks of Meredith Weiss being in a crossroads in her life, getting back to her remote childhood place and delivering mail, which is almost as boring as it sounds btw. However, the adult, but subtle themes and various characters made me stay in the Providence Oaks and I really liked that cozy five hour long journey. Lake is not phenomenal, neither unique, but still I have trouble thinking any other game like it. Maybe Fiewatch, but in a more upbeat way.

Considering the length and overall output the 20 bucks might be an inch of too expensive, but if you see it in sale I recommend. At least try the demo, which actually scratches everything the game offers.

It is actually ridiculous how so interesting game can make me so sleepy at the same time. lolzZz

Jokes aside, I believe that this is a walking sim in purest form. Nothing is explained and everything is simplified. No running, no jumping, no shooting, no driving, no solving - just exploration that doesn't actually push you but slowly opens through you proceed and make your investigation.

The game can't come more blissful than this.

Walking Simulator + 1. Nephise Ascension is the third and so far the final part of Nephise Trilogy creating a mysterious world with undead, giants and other magical beings. If you are familiar with Nephise games you might be familiar of gathering things until the next event opens, whatsoever it guaranteed that you get that more than enough with this game you also are introduced with platforming and simple minded puzzle solving and overall the package is pretty comprehensive plus you can jump!

Like most of the games in the franchise, Ascension is very beautiful game, with mesmerizing music and pretty story. However don't let some pics fool you for there is not actual combat or surviving elements for every moving obstacle you meet is blind and lifeless and you really can't die unless you are curious enough to go close to see what happens. You may also have noticed that main character is straightly ripped from some horny dream and if this kind of "eye candy" should be considered trump card, you are gonna be disappointed for the model appears just few times during gameplay, besides I found the whole character to be in conflict with the rest of the game. Why she dresses like some badass magic dominatrix if she commits such innocent deeds like carrying statues and collecting orbs? Can you give us some backstory?? I also had a moment of thought that the game broke in a triangle puzzle where you need to be exactly in specific spot in order to pass - this just caused me running aimlessly in an area looking for something while actually I had already solved what to do.

Ascension is not the greatest game, but still a decent walking sim which takes you into somewhere far far away for the moment it lasts. I recommend.

I recently bought another few titles by Bodur and this one unfortunately drops on the lower set of walking sims by the maker. Little Brother Jim is another tale with philosophic tone and environments change from beautiful forests to vast valleys so generally it is quite generic walking sim experience. However, it turns flat for I was not able to understand who the protagonist was or his intentions. All you do is collecting letters written by protagonist's brother Jim and how they used to grow up together. Granted, that there was few emotional and smart moments, but not enough to bring the feels.

Then to the more original part of this game - the driving. Alright on first sequence when I realized I was driving a car from the top view and not walking in some forest I was interested, but few moments later it gets boring and while the controls are fine the levels feel more an obstacles than entertainment. I know that the car and bear might be a reference, but fewer maps could have highlighted the same idea.

Do not get me wrong. The game fills all good Walking Sim standards and new features are to be considered controversial, but it lacks that breath lasting moment of pure joy, fulfilment or awarness to remember on.

Odd but refreshing title by Bodur, perchance even the top of his. First of all graphics look excellent and all limits of Unreal Engine is tested without doubt. The game itself is more like a testing presentation dressed into a dream collage of an artist and has actually a pretty ending as well referencing to another Bodur game Pluviophile. One thumb up from me.

Of course one mandatory plus that we need to always praise: EASY ACHIEVEMENTS!!! !!! !! !! eASy AchiEvEMentS... rEAlLy if you want 100% you just launch the game!! lolz - if you actually got this game after reading previous phrase and not to experience it, good grief get something meaningful in your life..

Such a nice way to spent your Sunday afternoon and forget world's problems for a time being.
