A fantastic fighting game that is a terrible port.

Mortal Kombat feels great to play. The fighting is smooth and neutral heavy with a great variety to all the characters. I would recommend this game for people who want a neutral, positioning focused and short combos fighting game to play against other people. But I wouldn't recommend this version.

This version is very unstable. In my time I've had it crash multiple times, both to desktop and just lock up my PC. The graphics options are good but weird. Resolution is tied to the desktop rather than what my monitor can do even with the fullscreen option, which is unlike any other game I've played since getting the monitor. AA is broken on my 980 ti with the FXAA + TAA setting causing blurring during game play and this smudging effect for transitions between cinematics and gameplay.

Another reason I can't recommend the game is that beyond the story mode and tutorial the single player content is garbage. The Towers of Time mode which is required to be played if you want to get all the cosmetics is unbalanced and requires a long grind to even properly engage with. The towers are also random on two hour rotations so good luck finding that skin you want for your favorite character. Each tower is meant to be beaten using a consumable that is randomly acquired from other places in the game, either the over priced krypt or regular towers that only give currency and consumables. These cosmetics can also be bought randomly from the store for a premium currency that can be earned but only in a limited quantity. Also, the items cost around $5 each. At least this is all cosmetic, though brutalities being behind this grind and paywall is annoying.

In short get the PS4 version if you really love this kind of fighting game and want to play online against other people. Everyone else just watch the story mode and give this game a pass.
