Simple, intuitive, addictive and charming.

Great game to waste some time and chill... until nubby decides to mess with the very laws of physics and yeets itself straight into the worst possible gap and all my lives are wasted (ꐦ¬_¬).

At one point, I launched my nubby, couldn't see anything amidst the absolute chaos, somehow nubbed the entire board, got a nub-tastically absurd score, and the game nubbing crashed. I sat there, nub-faced, thinking: "What the nub just happened?"

10/10 - Would nub again (👍ᐛ )👍

I personally never cared to learn how to properly bunny hop in the past... Well, now I know what I was missing.

The mechanics are very solid, and I got the hang of it in short time, as the game taught me well. And it ties unexpectedly well with the combat, that despite its simplicity feels satisfying.

This game has a ton of personality, and a compelling dark aesthetic that, in a way, reminded me of BLAME! and the likes (think: gargantuan industrial ominous places). And it left me some impression that felt quite familiar, and after some digging, I realized why: that Y2K vibe, breakcore music, rendered texts, crude geometry, etc. Also, I loved the protagonist's design, it's really gender if you ask me 𓁹‿𓁹.

The game is fun by itself. Yet, I was pleasantly surprised it's got even some nice little background lore to it, with a very eccentric and surprisingly comedic tone, which reminded me of Romantically Apocalyptic (and now thinking of it, the aesthetics even match a bit).

Anyway, looking forward to what the developer CEO's got in store for us.

Off-topic, but BAIONLENJA is also a custom keyboard brand by the same creator. I almost felt tempted to buy some pieces and customize my GMMK2, very cool stuff. Here's hoping the past drama's behind them!

Just your good old (and very wholesome) psychological lesbian romance horror ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧.

SIGNALIS is a masterpiece. One that leaves you contemplative and with a lingering bittersweetness (in a positive way). The game's blend of brutalist militarism with space horror creates an oppressive ambient where nowhere feels safe, neither physically, nor mentally, not even spiritually.

The soundtrack, sound design, aesthetics, and environmental storytelling all feel thoughtfully crafted. And before you notice it, everything the game throws at you is convincing, believable, no matter how outlandish or hard to grasp.
In terms of gameplay, I found it very enjoyable and straight out of classic survival horrors, specially the early Silent Hill games. It does have its quirks though, but nothing frustrating, and actually fun after you get used to it. Some puzzles might require burning a few more phosphates in your brain, some are more clever, others are just fun; and none of the solutions feel far-fetched.

But even if the mechanics don't captivate you, the story just might. Reading the logs, looking at images, and exploring the scenery, you sense there's a larger, more complex picture unfolding. The worldbuilding work from these devs is very immersive and well-crafted, and the oppressive nature of the events, the world, the sounds, and even the gameplay at times, all makes you root for the protagonist, in hopes of digging some light out of the utter darkness of this universe; you feel enticed to keep going, and see it to the end.

A word of warning though: the lore is highly speculative at some points, there's a lot left open, and I've seen very contrasting interpretations of what happened, what was real and what was not. I personally enjoy this very much (perhaps too much for my own sanity (¬////¬)).

In a closing note: this game is very inspiring, as I could smell the passion that the devs put in it, and it was definitely a good food for thought. Diving deep into such a cruel and indifferent world makes you ponder these desolate moments, and what could you possibly learn from what has transpired.

Sometimes I think even ENA might get perplexed by the things Joel Guerra's mind can come up with...

This game is an experience, period. Walking around the surreal landscape, hearing some cool relaxing tunes, chatting with the most whimsical and weird characters, is like exploring those forgotten liminal spaces of 2000s internet, but with a twist: this world is so alive and good-tempered, that you don't get those strange feelings of kenopsia or anemoia (or any other of those obscure sorrows), and instead it feels mesmerizing, like interacting with the cyberspace analogues of the fae folk from ancient medieval tales.

If you didn't watch the ENA animated series, then what are you doing here? Go watch it! As of now, there are only a handful, and they will give you a little taste of how this dreamscape of a world can be so mischievous and witty.

As I'm writing this review, the game has only one chapter, and should take ~2 hours to finish it. So consider taking your time exploring the lands and interacting with stuff, as even those who hunt down all achievements (like myself... couldn't help it (ᵕ—ᴗ—)) may miss some details or little secrets; only after 6 hours did I find that rope at the Purge Event .

Also, consider buying the supporter edition, their peak artistic vision and passion deserve every bit of recognition.
