So this is actually a game about suicide and all the stages of depression that come before it. The darkness in the beginning is literally darkness. The lightbulb represents the idea of suicide and the next room is the blissful acceptance of the resolve. Everything that comes afterwards involves the trials an individual faces before attempting suicide and it's clear that the scene with the sea was an episode of reminiscing upon everything that's happened in life.

yep. it's a suicide game.
