Can't really recommend the game to people in its current state. I want it to be good so bad but the relentless pursuit of smash-like gameplay at the expense of what made rivals 1 so fun has kept this game from reaching anywhere near its potential.

Alongside stripping the game of a lot of the fun present in rivals 1, the devs seem incapable of balancing already annoying mechanics without implementing exception-based conditions (e.g. this mechanic now doesn't work while grabbing, or above a certain percent). So along with removing the fun factor they've managed to continuously strip bits of intuitiveness from the game.

Just like the first game, a great mix of puzzles and dopamine hits. I do wish the puzzles were harder at points, and there are some secrets where the puzzle is "how much do you want to explore the boundaries of the map?". But, overall, super enjoyable game, can't wait for the next one.

One of those unique puzzle experiences you just can't get anywhere else. The story is captivating, the visual style is unique; and while I was put off by it at first, it was definitely the right way to go. It did its job by delivering the experience, and played it safe by avoiding uncanny valley territory. It truly is a masterpiece, and I can't wait to see what Lucas Pope gives us next.
