This is that.

This is a lovely game about automation, but instead of just an endless goal of bigger numbers to have bigger numbers, there are characters. There is a story. The town and the people in the town are part of the game.

And, it's also a laid back game. Yes, there is a day cycle. There are days of the week, there are seasons But there isn't a 'limit'. You can stay in a season until you are ready to progress the story, until you are as 'completed' as you want to be.

As someone with thousands of hours in factory automation games and thousands of hours in Stardew/Harvest Moon games, I can't stress enough how good this game is for me. This is the perfect game for me.

This is a fantastic game.
As long as you know you are going in for a narrative game and not an 'endlessly play' game.

It is well made, has good pacing, has a fun story, and has a fun mechanic that builds on itself as the game goes on.

Not overly 'spinning plates' either, just enough to keep you on your toes as it ramps up.

Most importantly, the game knows when to end. At the point where I couldn't think of what else could be stacked onto the pile, the game drew to a close. It lasted just as long as it needed to last.

The solution to just having youtube endlessly playing in the background.
Now, I have chill music, a little thing I can fiddle with, and a timer to let me know it is still cleaning time.

This game is no longer functional. There are droves of 'how to fix' pages, but I have neither the time nor the patience to sort through all of them in hopes of finding the magic combo that will allow me to play a 6 year old game.

Really, just don't bother at this point.
Suggestions to make the game run:
Disable your webcam, turn off origin overlay, turn off steam overlay, run as administrator, run in compatibility mode X, add exception to your router for a series of ports, run in windowed mode only, run in full screen mode only, run while in safe mode.
The list really just goes on and on.

Save your money and your time.

It's really good.

It's Dwarf Fortress.

I had fun with Hammerting when it was in EA.
Now we are months out, and this still EA game has been released, a few patches released, and has been abandoned.
