Shadowverse Worlds Beyond is not a perfect game. But it is not a Mostly Negative game either. As a fan of the original I couldn't be happier, my dead game got a second shot.

This positive review is ONLY to offset the negative ones, and mostly aimed at new players. What the negative review does is turn away potential new players. And those new players that ignored the review bomb? Most of them are having fun and saying the game is f2p friendly. I've seen multiple Reddit posts and Discord comments from new players with praise. For people that came from Shadowverse 1, it is a bit stingier, yes, but for a completely new player this is still one of the best in the market. Yeah, a pack costs 500 instead of 100, but you only get around 3.5x currency instead of 5x. People are forgetting you get the Park Keys that can give you rupees, packs and vials (crafting currency), and the fact that you get a guaranteed pack just by logging in daily (less than 20 seconds if you're pressed on time). We also get freebies out of nowhere for no reason, just like we just got 3 legendary packs. And don't forget events, those used to happen pretty frequently, and it seems to be the same thing here, we already had one event with another one set to release in a few hours.

Cygames clearly doesn't want to compromise to lowering the amount of cards needed to vial (uncraft), and that's probably because people used to destroy their entire collection to make a deck just to realize they don't like it or get bored of it, and then having no resources to rebuild, resulting in them leaving. Don't get me wrong, I do agree with the public, we SHOULD be able to do whatever we want with our account, but I'm trying to find some reasoning behind that decision. There's also a chance it was corporate greed and I'm being a fool defending them, but I try to be positive. The one decision I can't forgive them is removing Take 2, give me back my favorite mode >:(

Anyways, for older players, I'm not trying to go against you because you're not wrong, I just think review bombing is not the way. If you're a new player PLEASE try the game before forming your opinion, and don't listen to ♥♥♥♥ like Dexerto that says you need 500 dollars for a single meta deck, I've gotten 90% of the collection and I spent around $20 (starter pack + battle pass). You also get a free deck of your chosing, and those are pretty decent and upgradable into meta versions as you play.

A worthy sequel to Ender Lilies. Amazing atmosphere, art and OST, exploration is fluid and does not feel like a chore (I love how many exploration skills you get), great build variety with different attacks that you can mix and match. The story was very good by itself but of course the notes, once again, enrich the experience. Really happy that the sequel delivered, solid game 9/10.

I honestly don't even know how to review this one, I just want to leave a positive review saying that it was a masterpiece of a game and you should 100% buy it. I would put it on my list of favorite JRPGS alongside FFVII, Chrono Trigger and Legend of Legaia. I hate when people use the term hidden gem but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, if this is not one, then I don't know what is. Story is VERY anime, which can be a plus for some people (it certainly is for me), combat is insanely good, different character progression and power systems are nice, OST is a BANGER - seriously how the hell is it so good? - and the entire cast of characters is very likeable. The art is unique. Not conventional at all, but I personally love it. Just to finish, I'll let you know that somehow this insane game was made by 1 (one) person. It took him 14 years to cook this up, but it was so worth it. I kneel, KEIZO.

Story 9/10
Gameplay 10/10
OST 10/10
Enjoyment 10/10
Overall 10/10

One of my favorite Metroidvanias, I'm very bad with formatting but I'll try to keep things organized so it's easier to read.

<<Combat and Leveling>>
Combat is satisfying and diverse enough to not become repetitive. Spirits are special mobs or bosses you kill and can use in combat, with bosses being the main weapons and the mobs being consumable skills. You have enough combinations to last a while, sometimes I went with ranged attacks vs hard to approach enemies, sometimes summons to help me deal consistent damage to bosses, or just spam parry abilities and take no damage. It's very fun to mess around with all the different skills. Also this game has NO STAMINA and NO SITUATIONAL CONSUMABLES, which makes it jump up my ratings a lot.

So you probably think you get "souls" to level, but actually you level passively by killing stuff. Level goes up to level 100 and you get stronger each level, plain and simple. I actually like that, I hate getting back to where I died to get my "souls". That also means there's no penalty for dying, which might be a turn off for some people but the game is challenging enough in some areas.

So how do you scale damage if you can't level attributes? Relics, which you get by exploring. It's basically the same system as Hollow Knight but if you haven't played that, you have x slots, and each relic can cost up to y slots. So if you have 10 slots you can use up to 10 total value of relics. It's pretty simple once you play. Just a heads up for the parry maniacs, you unlock one as a 0 cost relic a bit after killing one of the early game bosses.

<<Exploration>>
Exploring in this game is fluid when you have all the power ups, but it's kinda slow at the start. Your dash early game is literally you falling on the floor. As said above, the fact that you have no stamina means you can spam dash, and when you get the upgraded one you start moving more freely around the map. You also have fast travel unlocked very early (I think it's after tutorial boss), and you have some good QoL like having the map show you if you're missing an item in the area. If I'm remembering correctly, there's 5 hard jumps you have to make to 100% the map, and you need specific Spirits to do it. That, for me, was annoying, because I had to check a guide on how to do it, but it was easy enough to find that info.

<<Story>>
We have a fragmented story, but it's a good one. It is not hard to follow, but you have to read the notes to fully appreciate it. The worldbuilding is insanely well done but if you don't read the notes you will just have a few dialogues and cutscenes after every boss, and it might leave you confused. I'm not going to say anything about it as that's spoiler territory, and it's a good enough story to warrant a blind playthrough.

<<Art & OST>>
Not a lot to say here, I love the artstyle and monster design, very immersive if you're following the story, and the OST complements the areas a lot. The final area in particular has crazy good atmosphere, and it's my favorite area thanks to that. The OST is crazy good, every area has its own theme and the boss themes are epic. The orchestra goes crazy. You can see a lot of love went into this game.

<<Conclusion>>
A great game all around. It has a lot of QoL compared to other games of the genre, and its unique features set it apart from the rest. Story is good and even emotional at times. Great art, killer soundtrack. Recommended even at full price, but if you're patient the sales have very high discounts.

Honestly a pretty decent game. The early game almost pushed me away, I even uninstalled it tbh, but after toughing it out through the first 2 areas I can say it was worth it. The exploration is pretty good after you get a few power ups, the bosses are the right amount of challenging and fun - although I hate the fact that 90% of them have second phases / health bars. The story is incomprehensible for my small brain, but I did enjoy the visuals. I don't love it to the point where I'll platinum the game, but I can definitely recommend it at sale price.

I saw someone playing this game and all it took was 5 seconds watching to decide that I was going to try it. All the information I had when purchasing this game was that it's a JRPG and that there was a cute witch that's named Pieberry, and that's her name because she likes Pies and Strawberries. That sounded kinda dumb but also kinda cute, so I decided to give it a shot, and I'm super glad I did because this is one of my favorite games in recent memory. Allow me to attempt selling the game to you, so that you can also experience the greatness that is Witch Spring R.

<<Story>>
What I thought was going to be a weak point was actually one of the strongest. Chapter 1 baited into thinking it was a very chill slice of life game, just get mats, craft stuff and level. But that was just the tutorial chapter. The actual game starts at Chapter 2, in my opinion. Basically, Pieberry just wants to find the best pie ever, but ends up finding way more important things after she starts making connections with other people. The characters are great, Pieberry and Black Joe have such great chemistry. Pieberry is such a bundle of sunshine and wholesomeness, she plays well into every character and greatly enhances the experience. Black Joe is a weird bird-thingy that's her servant, but he also acts like her mentor. The game has a lot of other characters that you will most likely get attached to, as they're pretty well written, and all the sub-plots have pretty satisfiying endings.

<<Leveling System>>
The leveling system is very unique. You have Physical, Magical and Combat levels. They all go to 5, maximum, so it might look like it's not enough, but the actual leveling comes from attribute boosting items. All monsters in the game drops materials, and you can craft stuff with those, including potions that permanently increase attributes. Also, all bosses also drop materials that increase attributes, no crafting necessary. About the other levels, your Physical and Magical levels get increased when you train, and Combat levels when you, well, do combat. You get training points periodically while doing stuff, and then you go into your house and do the minigame for training. They're all easy and you don't get enough training points for it to feel taxing, you just do it once in a while. It's a nice change of pace from just killing stuff to level generic stats.

<<Monster Respawning>>
This is what almost pushed me away from the game, when I saw you have to wait for monsters and bosses to respawn. Considering you need a bunch of materials to level, I was not interested in afking to get materials, but turns out it's not based on time, but on actions. When you train, kill other monsters, loot stuff and so on, the times advances. So if you need to kill say, 4 bosses, you usually will be able to rotate them. The game is not that hard that you need to grind that much, tbh, I played on Very Hard so I struggled a bit on early game, but I assume on normal you probably don't even care about respawn timers, maybe only for quests and evolving weapons.

<<Combat>>
This is the first JRPG I play where you only have 1 party member. Well, you can actually have multiple, as you can summon pets to fight with you, but they can't be targeted. So you will always tank all the damage, even though you can control who your pet attacks, you can't command them to do anything else. Playing as a solo target is pretty challenging at the start, depending on your difficulty, but after you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty fun. In order to learn new spells, you have to craft them. This is such a simple thing but I found it to be so enjoyable. You have to work for it and it gives a sense of accomplishment. Also the spells are flashy and mostly AoE, so they feel good to use. Another important point is that if you're overleveled but need materials from a weak monster, the game let's you one shot them before you start the fight, so you don't lose time but get their loot. This also advances the spawn of other monsters and gives combat experience, as it counts as combat. About pets, you capture them like a pokémons, although you can only get specific monsters. You can also decide to go melee and use swords instead of staves, it's completely viable (might be even better than magic tbh)

<<Conclusion>>
I was NOT expecting anything other than a decent way to pass time when I bought this one, maybe like a 7/10 game, and I'm so glad to be wrong. I can 100% understand why it has a Overwhelmingly Positive score on Steam, it's deserved. This is a hidden gem, and I wish more people knew about it. I have to thank our VTuber overlords for playing this game otherwise I would've never even found it. Praying they adapt the rest of the series as remakes. If we're lucky it might come out before Silksong.

The story is probably very confusing for newcomers to the series, but it's anime enough to be enjoyable. The final boss is one of the coolest if not the coolest bossfight I've ever experienced. Stand proud Relink, you are peak cinema.

About endgame, GBF will always be Grindblue Fantasy, no matter the platform... Welcome to the Proto Bahamut mines! And endless Silver Centrum farm! Hope you enjoy your stay!

10/10 game unironically, worth the wait (Yes I am a masochist that loves killing the same boss 200 times)

An amazing game plagued by greedy monetization. My playtime is not reflected on Steam because I played mostly on standalone, but I probably have more than 1k hours, so I guess I can at least complain. I got told to "stay away from gachas" when I complained about ToF, but I've played a lot of gacha games and none of them are close to being as bad when it comes to money. The powercreep is insane to the point where my old team I spend a good amount of money does literally[i.imgur.com] 1/6 of the damage of the current meta team, and it's only been one year ffs. The gear progression is pretty fun but I guess Hotta thinks new characters are also part of progression, meaning if you stop playing for a while and draining every single event, you're gonna get left behind and money is the only way of catching up. You could use the argument of "you can't pay for gear, just farm the gacha characters" well guess what, you can pay for gear too, although I doubt many people do. A shame, really, because ToF was one of the most fun times I've spent gaming in recent years, but I guess it's not a game for me anymore.

Just a quick note: if you're a casual player that don't give a damn about meta, like collecting cute characters, character customization, or like roleplaying, this game is still great and you should not care about my review!
