there's a few games that have set out to do what disco elysium did. this is the first one to even come close to being as special as DE was.

i hate to draw the comparison, it feels so minimizing to what this game is trying to do. this is a game from people that love fantasy, dungeons and dragons, and video games as a whole. its writing is beautiful. its demo alone felt ridiculously expansive, they remove the red tape right away. there's clearly a story this DM wants to tell, but a world he has crafted too, and a world he does not mind you ignoring the story to explore. the main quest will wait. he'll find some quests for you to do with the characters you get interested in. that's what a good DM does.

hate is overblown but the community is pretty unpleasant at times

one of those games that sticks with you despite only being 5-10 hours of your life

I've seen ppl say the turn to religion was weird and i do think the last chapter needed a little breathing room to explain/pace itself a little better but oh my god this game doesn't show religion as a means to heal at all. she has a stint with religion at some point in her college freshman year, uses it as an unhealthy coping mechanism, and then drops out of college. it's not meant to be glorified in any way

Had to come back and review this one. I love absurdist philosophy games but this one just missed the mark. The minigames are long and drawn out, repetitive, and don’t respect the player’s time. You’ll get a few chuckles and might enjoy the references but this feels like 2.2hr steambait. If you want a game that captures this but understands the spirit of the trolley problem, Trolley Problem Inc. is miles better and will leave a much longer lasting impression on you

If you'd told me one of my favorite parts of a game would be stopping every day to pray for an unskippable 60 seconds I'd never believe you. but here we are

Never been a retro gamer but this is fire. the amount of genres and depth in every single game is intense. party house is pogged

Hades/Smash Bros. comparisons are pretty accurate, very fluid gameplay, weapons w alternate forms, fun upgrades that are nods to smash (like getting the ability to wavedash or DI). good pick up and play high dopamine game :)

I'm absolutely loving this game. It's so delighfully unsettling - the expansive, empty open world that's always set to night time, the unexplained robots that all come pre-loaded with the same emotionless "yeah" voice line that you hear over and over, the other NPCs that have surprisingly funny dialogue; this game is a keeper for sure, and a steal at $9. I've had so much fun streaming it to my friends and laughing over whatever crazy thing happens. The games are diverse and challenging and don't feel rigged, and have a surprisingly lasting amount of fun in them.

Some suggestions (other than the obvious "more arcade games!!!"):
-Let me rotate held items in place like GMod! The amount of time I've spent arranging my prizes on the shelves so they look good can be frustrating
-On that, let me furnish my garage? I would love more tables and shelves to properly display all my winnings.
-Let me change my swan's bowtie? I'm so happy she's here and she was such a pleasant surprise and I want more of her. Let me take her on walks maybe???

I love this game so much, 10/10: the game you don't know you want, until you have it and everything is right
