The game is decent on it's own. I've enjoyed the story thus far. However, as I'm sure most of you are enjoyers of their other game "Void Bastards", this game is a little disappointing.

All of the mechanics that made VB great are absent here. The decision making is absent at worst, and at best deciding between which of your dozen characters gets the next level up. There's no real risk/reward mechanics since most maps can be cleaned dry of resources (that disappear at the end of each sector). The only resource management in this game is deciding which characters to revive, and which characters to stop feuding. Some combats can be avoided, but since combat has tangible rewards in the form of "Infamy" avoiding pointless nothing-fights feels bad. You'll spend a significant amount of time fighting enemies that have no chance against you, which ends up feeling very grindy. The time-pressure mechanic doesn't feel very pressuring at all, since the 3 bosses who show up every planet if you take too long aren't really that big of a challenge once you know how to handle them. Just another fight to clean up.

And that's just it - the fighting. Each combat only ends when every enemy is defeated. Thankfully enemies frequently bark out their position so hunting down the stragglers isn't TOO bad, but it adds up quick when you're doing maybe 5 fights per planet, and 8-9 planets in a sector.

TLDR; Decision making doesn't feel very impactful, risk/reward mechanics are lacking in depth, and the game can feel super grindy when you've "solved" your build for a sector.

I understand that this game isn't trying to be Void Bastards, and it's unfair to try and judge it as though it WERE Void Bastards. Unfortunately Void Bastards left some pretty big shoes to fill, and this game doesn't quite live up to their other title. I think I'm close to the end of the game at this point, and I'll definitely finish it. But unless the challenges add something substantial, I might just leave the game at a single completion.

This game was advertised as "The most fun you can have online" at one point, and they were absolutely right. My multi-thousand hour account says as much. Now they've left the game to rot with bots, cheaters, and not even basic maintenance beyond providing us more things we can spend money on. I'd say the game is on life-support, but it's probably closer to leaving a kid in a hot car: Forgotten, and left to die.

It breaks my heart to write this review. TF2 is my favorite, most played game of all time. And it just simply does not work anymore. The least they could do is be honest about their plan for the game.

It's a decent game with an interesting mechanic - The action timer. It does have somewhat clunky mechanics/movement overall (I think that they could have done better with raw distance instead of hexes, but I suppose that defeats the purpose of the name.) It's worth the buy on sale, IMO.

My largest complaint though is that, despite being John Wick, you don't really get to use any of his signature fighting. There isn't any disarming of opponents, no grappling, and most importantly there isn't any grappling of a live target to use as a shield / incapacitate them temporarily while dealing with other threats. It's an interesting strategy game, but it is most certainly is not a John Wick game.

This is, in my opinion, the best minesweeper spinoff game out there. Typical minesweeper gameplay plus Binding of Isaac type item synergies creates a game that's filled with lots of fun, and personality.

Pros:
-Classic Minesweeper gameplay
-Vast amounts of depth beyond what you can initially see when just getting started (Blueprints, Secret modes, even MORE secret modes, etc)
-Very replayable
-Tons of stuff to unlock
-Dozens of different "Masteries" which help you play your preferred style.
-The new multiplayer mode (though it is still in beta as of writing this) is excellently executed.

Cons:
-Can be extremely frustrating at times. A lot of the "Omens" you receive can hard-counter your build so effectively you immediately die and there's nothing you can do about it
-The progression is kinda grindy and RNG based (Good luck getting the special chest type you want)
-Sometimes the game crashes, but USUALLY that doesn't end a run due to autosave.

Half way through my first playthrough the game froze. I laughed at the enginuity, how clever it was that this game is meta enough to fake-freeze.

I was wrong. My computer actually 100% crashed from something unrelated.

10/10 would crash again

Absolutely FANTASTIC game. I can't say much about this game because I wouldn't want to ruin the surprises, so just take my word for this. You won't regret your purchase.

I've always wanted "Groundhog Day" the video game. This is it.

The guests in the mansion relive the same 12 hours wherein they perish in the same greusome ways every single day, and you must find a way to save them. Of course, you can only save them if you know what happens in the first place. That's where your trusty pocket watch comes into play. Your pocket watch allows you reset the day to the very beginning before anyone has been killed by the mansion staff, and maybe, just maybe, prevent the guests' early demise.

Every single puzzle in this game is incredibly smart, and very intuitive. The game mechanics are all utilized to perfection, though I would have liked to see a little more guest-to-guest interactions, as very few of their stories intersect a great deal.

There were a few situations where I had to look at a walkthrough. These situations were generally because I had given up on a certain lead because I felt as though I had exhausted every possible approach to a given circumstance, but in reality there was some very small, easy to miss detail (and one instance of what I thought was just bad game design), but these are all just a fraction of what is otherwise a 10/10 game.

TL;DR:
Great story.
Tons of lore (That you don't even have to look at if you don't want!)
Extremely smart and clever puzzles
Is groundhog day the game.
I very rarely finish games. The fact that I saw this one through to completion (and want to go back and find all the collectables) should speak volumes for this game's quality.

A very charming little game. Easy to 100% if you have a little patience, and 3d platforming / speedrunning experience. Good way to kill some time, and well worth the investment.
