Just a pretty little game where you make pretty little places. Just boot it up, and chill out for a few hours.

My review here is simple - Don't buy Homeworld 3. Buy this instead.

Far better game in every single aspect it is possible to be.

I've poured time into this, as much as I can really put into it but . . . I've finished the campaign and every other review has covered the near universal hatred of the story and characters than I could, and in much better detail.

Somewhere along the way, this labour of love went off the rails. Datamined and (now scrubbed from the internet BUT available via the wayback machine) previous FIG or interviews with BBI staff showed a much different and arguably better product that was taken outside and told to stare into the flowers whilst a shotgun was loaded and fired into the back of its head.

We got a gutted corpse; with missing features, abandoned concepts and ideas what would have vastly improved the game as a whole. Missing ships (looking at you railgun frigate), missing functions (squadrons, Z functionality, fuel, hyperspace) missing promises (more factions, ect) and it's just baffling.

What the hell happened? Who screwed it up? Why did everyone just roll with this during the design process?

The only remaining chunk of the game with any promise is the wargames, and those either don't work, won't connect, crashes at random or just routes me back to the main menu without explanation, or crash mid-match and my machine isn't old and certainly doesn't have any problems with any other games running in unreal for the last year.

So now . . . I'm just tired, tired and disappointed. They have my money and I can't get it back so all I can do is warn anyone else who might want to purchase this product.

Don't. If you really want to play it, go and buy deserts of kharak or find something else, vote with your wallet.

On the one hand, I feel bad for whoever is on the lowest levels of the various studios and workforces.

On the other hand - the higher ups, "narrative managers" and middle management who thought the kind of ♥♥♥♥ they keep pulling are good ideas? Suffer harder you putrid morons, maybe eventually you'll figure out your business decisions are absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid and you need to try a new career.
