Can't bring myself to like this game.

It's just.. Frustrating. Even with friends.

Don't get me wrong, it looks great visually and plays pretty good but..

I just don't think it's for me.

Criticize me all you want, not like I give a ♥♥♥♥.

This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks.

Play Left 4 Dead 2 instead.

Update 4/25/23: Played it sober and had the same experience. Also the servers are pretty much dead.

I've given up on Forza Horizon 5. I'm completely burnt out and just bored with the game. It stopped being fun a while ago, but I continued to push on hoping for something that'll keep me going.

Haven't touched the game in nearly a month, and I intend to keep it that way. I've put just a little over 200 hours into the game, and that's probably enough for me. I've already beat the four or five Horizon tours and some of the Horizon Stories but there's just no real drive to keep playing.

And I'm not the only one- When it launched on Steam over 80,000 people played it. Now it averages about ~6,500 players not even 7 months later. Not to mention the litany of glitches and bugs that plagued the game at the beginning that scared off potentially new players.

Honestly, the only thing this game makes me want to do is play older Forza titles. Because this just doesn't work for me anymore. Unless they manage to pull off something major that'll suck me back in, this'll remain uninstalled on my PC.

As someone who has put slightly over 100 hours into this game, I can say that my time has thoroughly been worth it. The writing and voice acting is fantastic, the visuals (especially at night) make for fantastic photo opportunities, and the variety of weapons makes combat an approach-as-you-like method of dealing with enemies.

However, that's where my praises start and my complaints begin- Even with numerous hotfixes, patches, updates, etc it still doesn't make up for my experience.. At least so far. The 1.1 update has alleviated some of my nagging problems, but a lot of it is likely far deeper than putting out hotfixes.

Slow LOD generation, missing texture boxes popping in, glitched out key commands, obvious unfinished areas of the map, holes in the map where you can fall to an infinite void, substandard driving controls, oversensitive fall damage, glitched enemies, and so on and so forth. I've had so many issues that I'd be here for hours writing out my grievances.

At least CDPR is listening and admitting their faults. But at the same time, they've had 8 years to work on this game. What also saddens me is the amount of cut features and content (which I theorize will be added later, or added by mods) and the very obvious lacks of polish in numerous areas.

Regardless, I wouldn't have put in this much time if I didn't think there was some fun in it. And there was- I have had several multi-hour sessions just grinding away on side quests, doing the actual story, freeroaming, and taking pictures. I just with there was more to do, other than the occasional chat with vendors once you do most of the gigs and sidequests.

Even though the 1.1 update has squashed plenty of my quarrels I've had with the game, I still cannot bring myself to recommend the game. Personally, I'm glad that it's kept me entertained and wishing for more but that cannot supplement the issues that plague the game.

Time may change my opinion, but right now I cannot recommend it.

Alright, so first things first:
2019 was the first F1 season that I watched fully so picking up the game on the advice of a friend was going to be interesting.

Close to 100 hours later and I'm loving the ♥♥♥♥ out of it. Only cons I have is the multiplayer community; Very toxic and crash-happy. Any other cons have been fixed by updates or patches by Codemasters themselves.

It was also nice to roll out a collection of classic cars along with the Legends DLC featuring Senna and Prost. Had fun playing that championship rotating between the two.

Looking forward to F1 2020.
