I just want to add to all of the reviews saying that I was unable to get this game to run for more than a few minutes on my hardware without crashing. Real shame, as I love the other (older) Total War games and it looks like it would be lots of fun. So, for what it's worth I'm pretty sure I would recommend the game itself, but this just seems to be a very low effort port spat out by CA to make some pocket money on one of their games that had been out of easy circulation for a while.

I'm aware that getting old games like this to run reliably on new hardware is no easy task, but it really feels like CA didn't even try. Seems like every time I give modern CA a chance and buy one of their games it lets me down somehow nowadays, but that's a larger issue I have with them.

I've attempted every permutation of resolution settings, Graphics Card settings and compatability settings I could find recommended online but, alas, none seemed to do the trick for me. While my play time is only 0.1 hours, I must have easily spent an hour trying to get it working, and there comes a certain point when really CA should be paying me for the work I'm putting into trying to get their game to work on my hardware.

Maybe I'm just an idiot and I missed the one setting that would magically get it to work for me, and maybe you yourself will be lucky and the game will run without issue for you, or after changing the resolution settings as seems to be the most common recommendation that has worked for people. But I would say that when buying this don't expect it to just work without any tinkering with the settings even in the best case scenario. And be ready to ask for a steam refund like myself as there seems to be a chance that nothing you do will help depending on your computer.
