I had hoped the first review I leave on a Steam game to be a positive one, and perhaps under different circumstances this would have been.

GTA V is a fantastic game. It is. It's by no means perfect but it is damned close. You can pour many hours in to it (as I have with friends on the Xbox iteration) and still not get bored. After having much fun and playing through it time and time again (as well as countless hours having mad chases in a vast, open world) I decided to purchase it on Steam. This was not just a gesture to show my support for the game, it was to add replayability. You see, computer gaming has always had one thing that consoles didn't have. Easy and expansive modding capabilities.

That's where this review gets negative.

Take-Two's recent, ludicrous decree that modding GTA V is somehow illegal has taken away a lot from the game. It also seems to be a step away from previous GTA titles. A massive modding scene has followed GTA all the way from Vice City adding even more content to otherwise packed games. This is nothing but an attack on what has been a very loyal fanbase only seeking to improve upon the game, or add their own insane twists on the world the game has created. For this, I can't leave a positive review.
