As for that achievement, it -is- only supposed to be for 2012 (that was the 10th anniversary of the project launch), as for why my achievement is shown as Sept, I'm not entirely sure, based on the fact all of my achievements are showing the same timestamp though I'm guessing it might have been a weird synchronization issue with steam perhaps.
Unfortunately I doubt (but I can't say by any official capacity) that AA3 will be released in any form of open source, as the game is Unreal Engine and a licensed one at that, which is likely one of the main reasons (amongst some of the other proprietary software used) that AA2 was never open sourced really either (even the *nix ports of <= 2.5 were done by someone under contract).
About 'Pursuit of Happiness': Is it made to be a 1-time-only achievement, with no possible way to unlock after 2012 July? There are people who said they unlocked it a long time after that date by playing the game. Can you confirm this? If this is the case the achievement should be reported and marked as Invalid (unobtainable) on statistics website until it's changed (if ever) or removed from Steam (it can stay in the game's launcher).
