Great entry mixing things in from RE7, RE4(R) and surprisingly a lot of RE6 making this feel at best a Resident Evil that balances Horror and Action really well or at worst two different games stapled together. Kind of like you're playing Resident Evil Greatest hits.

Your enjoyment will depend on liking both Puzzle & Survival Horror in Grace's sections (very similar to RE7 or RE2R) and Action Horror in Leon's sections (similar to RE4(R) and RE6).

I personally very much admire this approach but it doesn't feel too "new", which I always kind of look for in Resident Evil titles. This more so feels like Capcom's intent to retry what they failed at trying to develop RE6, by pulling certain aspects of action back on that title and mixing back in horror. Or rather them trying to reintroduce action into the franchise by being more mindful where to lean into and where to pull back. I feel like they more or less succeeded.

If you're a Resident Evil fan of all the games this one is a good one, if you never played a RE title I'd say hold off on this one unless you're very interested in Requiem in particular. But if you're somewhere in-between it's hard to say. Regardless, it's a very fun ride.
I'll update this review later when I replayed the game more.

Pretty good, most fun I had with a grasshopper game in a while, while the narrative is disappointing (feels like a rehash of No More Heroes 1 in some areas, villains get little screen time to grow, Romeo is as interesting as a wet plank, ties to previous Suda/Grasshopper Manufacture games feel minimal at worst, fleeting at best), the game itself is mad fun to play through, I've spent a lot of time using the Bastard Fusion system which is somewhat similar to SMT's Demon fusion system, to create bastards that are stupidly powerful.

Competent remake, the bones of the original have been reordered to fit a modern game. I do prefer the original a lot more due to striking and dramatic camera angles during gameplay and some performances, but this remake is unexpectedly good given at the time Konami's and Blooper team's track record. I like that some bosses got expanded.

Performance however is sometimes quite poor, I can reach 60+ fps on a lot of areas but in those same areas there's a chance for the game to cripple itself in performance.
(Running on a RTX 3070, Ryzen 9 5900HS/i7-11700)
If this turns you off then opt for the original (Enhanced Edition on PC if you know where to look)

Solid remake of World 2, more looser physics to make it lenient to platform around. The last 3 bosses of the main game are quite hard though. Very much appreciate them bringing Pac-Man's voice actor from World 3 to this game 20 years later.

Definitely my favourite out of the reboot trilogy, feels like a healthy mix of classic doom and modern doom into one. Because of that It almost feels like a missing link almost going from Doom II/64 to Doom 2016 (no shade 3 I love you).

Eternal reinforced a lot of 2016s combat loop to be more intense and force you into a hyperactive playstyle that basically asked you to be at the peak of your performance nearly all the time, with a lot of solved solutions for monsters (especially in the DLC), not going for those solved solutions and quick swapping combos to maximise damage would mean more time spent playing inefficiently and those extra seconds or milliseconds could mean life or death. This combined with a lot of vertical movement (jumping, monkey barring, jump pads... is this Quake...) kept Eternal frantic but gets way too monotonous (especially the glory kills).

Dark Ages does away with Eternal's combat philosophy and instead makes multiple changes to keep Doom fresh yet familiar.
There's a giant enemy count similar to Doom II whenever you enter big open areas, the game allows more freedom to practically "main" a weapon or a set of them, nearly each weapon feels like a powerhouse that has its own little resource or game loop going(I especially love the rail spike that recharges your melee more with each headshot, combine that with the dreadmace that drops a lot of ammo and you're giving lobotomies left and right with practically infinite ammo). There's a larger focus on horizontal movement, you'll be strafing around enemies & projectiles or sprint forward, there's the occasional dash with the shieldsaw but the cooldown is relatively long.
The shieldsaw is the biggest part of the game, you can't live without it. You'll need it to block gunfire from HITSCAN CHAINGUNNERS, clear out fodder enemies, lock down bigger enemies, and even more importantly parry projectiles and attacks.
Parrying is a vital part of the game as you get to stun enemies on successful parrying, this will break their armour, activate your shield rune, recharge your melee and depending on the weapon, activate their specific ability (healing from self-damage or charged up shot as examples) .The parry window by default feels almost as big as Batman Arkham's counter window, maybe a little smaller. You can adjust to your taste, i kept it at default as first playthrough and reduced it for the 2nd.

All these changes, big and small make it feel they heard players like me who don't like the direction of Eternal and made a game for us. It's kind of crazy but I'm really happy with this game.

As a product this is not worth 80 bucks unless you're a REALLY big Doom fan, I paid 57 and I feel happy with that price. The replay value on offer is just the main campaign right now, with the multiple difficulty options and the difficulty sliders that allow you to greatly modify the gameplay to your taste.

My first playthrough was on Ultra-Violence with no changes and it felt way too easy at some points.
On my 2nd run I played on Nightmare on 120% game speed and that was a proper challenge. I experimented with a reduced parry window and slowed projectile speed but that didn't feel right so I reset those options.

Quake 1 Episode 1 with a lot of Build Engine games' interactivity and goofiness. A bit standard of a boomer shooter but the atmosphere and kick add to the game quite a bit.

It's all of Doom and Doom 2. If you're starting out this is a good enough of a source port to play and enjoy the games in their original states all in one launcher. As someone who plays through Chocolate Doom, this is a nice replacement due to cloud saves.

Now this release of Doom also comes with a new expansion called Legacy Of Rust.
This is a very fun expansion, two slaughter maps near the end but the rest feels very thought out and the new weapons & monsters are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool. The ost rocks too.

TLDR: It's good this is essentially Yakuza game with a short story and a lot of side content. Get it if you're a fan but no harm waiting for a sale.

As someone who played through every mainline Yakuza/Like A Dragon game, along with side games and spin-offs. This entry is the most straight forward. You are a Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. It excels at what its doing, not what I wanted it to be, but that's fine.

The combat in this is quite good, there's two styles you can swap in and out from, Mad Dog(Yakuza style) and Sea Dog(Pirate Style). Mad Dog plays like a typical yakuza game except now you can branch into a new combo with heavy attacks instead of only light attacks performing combos. This combined with an uppercut launcher, combos into launch and a jump button transforms the entire experience and offers a fresh new gameplay. People tend to compare it with Devil May Cry, but it feels a bit more like Ninja Gaiden more than anything (only thing missing is an izuna drop).

Sea Dog style is used for crowd control and you'll need it for the huge hordes of pirates you'll be taking on. Majima will be swinging around two cutlasses that he can throw as boomerangs, a flintlock pistol and most importantly, a grapple hook. Oh god this thing can get you to targets so quickly it's my favourite addition. Sea Dog is very unique to this game and there isn't anything that feels similar in other yakuza games, making the combat feel even fresher.

Aside from the combat, the game offers a light story with a ton of side content. You'll be doing a lot of treasure hunting (Island Raiding) Bounty Hunting, and pirate ship battles on the seas or in the arena. All of these aspects were done pretty well and I'm surprised RGG banged this out in a year after Infinite Wealth's release. Only complaint I have is that on professional difficulty, the pirate ship battles within the colloseum gets super tough, to the point where I drop down the difficulty just for these.

A lot of its sidequests are essentially sequel sidequests to the ones you did in Infinite Wealth but this shouldn't detract from the quality of these.

Now for my main complaint which is more of a long time fan rambling and not that big of a deal considering my overall enjoyment of this game, but it's about the story. I always liked this franchise for how much of a "All-in-One" package type deal it is. You get tons of sidequests, mini-games, a "side" game that could've been its own game. Well in Pirate Yakuza, it is the main game and it ties that value heavily to the main story & side content. The main story incorporates the pirate stuff a lot but the story itself is short, incredibly short and only gets *really* good for the last chapter while the rest of the story felt so-so. If I were to compare this to Like a Dragon Gaiden, Gaiden had a great and better main story but "worse" substories than Pirate Yakuza.

For the story itself I expected we'd uncover Majima's memories over time and how he reflects on the events of the past 9 games. What I got out of the main story of Pirate wasn't much, but what was there were diamonds in the rough.

It's like the shopping cart test, you are expected to return it after you're done shopping but nothing is stopping you from not taking any responsibility and throwing it into a ditch.
