what a great game, shame it had such a disaster of a launch. as always, thanks to greedy shareholders and not so bright management that let this happen. would the game return the investment even after 69th delay? yes. would the game be better? most likely but you never know. the problem were old-gen consoles because some not so clever people thought you can release a next-gen title on old-gen lol. a lot of money went down the drain for no reason and being greedy is not a valid one.

this is a well polished experience for just 5 bucks... unlike many crappy games (like rv there yet, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash). you guys deserve the recognition and success.

Well, this is an EA game so it is what you can expect. ♥♥♥♥ ton of mtx, lack of communication both from the dev and between players because EA likes pushing weird trend of circumcising games of their social features in the name of "battling toxicity". mfers, you know you can employ people that will deal with that? You can also not put your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ kernel-access anticheat in a solo "multiplayer" game because of which I can't play this on linux. You know you can battle cheaters in an easier way? Just employ the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ people. In the end, that's the route because hardware cheating will eventually become the standard.

Aside from EA and their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ practices, it's a fairly good game. Skating is as good as in skate3, imo even better. The animations are gorgeous, the controls have been definitely improved since playtests. I have so much fun just riding around, looking for sick spots and doing some linetricks.

However, nothing is perfect and the game has some issues:
* ♥♥♥♥♥♥ LD. It's way too vertical. I understand where that comes from but the map definitely needs some updates and overhauls because riding around the town is tedious. You can't even get to certain places by skating, you need to do parkour which is also meh (i like parkour tho, thats not the point)
* No game of skate, no nothing. There are two ways in which ppl can interact: coop missions and touchdowns (or whatever their name is). It gets old quickly and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ staple of the culture (IT'S THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ NAME HELLO?) is not in the game lol
* ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ progression system. These missions eat ass. They take 3 mins to do and 2 of which are cutscenes and other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Rewards? Currency for lootboxes. Oh right, you can't obtain anything in a normal way. you need to open lootboxes for them xDD OH WAIT YOU WANT A PARTICULAR ITEM? VANS OLDSKOOLS? GRAB THAT CREDIT CARD AND PUT THAT MFER IN. I wonder how proud of themselves was the person that suggested it. I also wonder why nobody has shut down this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea.

it's free so it doesn't hurt to try it out. you'll get at least a few hours of fun for essentially nothing. just don't spend anything, a year or two and the servers will be switched off

If you're not ready for extreme grind, don't even bother.

If you're not ready for slow and steady gameplay, don't even bother.

If you're addicted to quick dopamine bursts and shallow mechanics that only milk your brain, don't come.

This game is one of a kind. It's one of the best sandbox titles out there and that's not "my opinion". That's straight facts. It's just not suited for the majority of people unfortunately. And that's not because of it's dated looks or UX, it's mainly because the gameplay is just slow and rewards patience and resilience. You're most likely not built for it and that's okay. What's not okay is garbage reviews from people who missed their expectations and spew their toxicity inside their "reviews".

If you're looking for deep and sophisticated crafting mechanics, grindy gameplay similar to runescape, sandbox features that allow you to do basically anything - this is for you. It's not a game for one evening, it's an experience and a journey. The community is welcoming and will help you on the way.
