Here's a game with great strategic intricacy, forcing you to both prioritise and balance a load of different recources. Despite of this the game is fairly easy to play and understand mechanic-wise, but you will have to invest hundreds of hours if you really want to master it.

Its a great throwback to simpler times of gameplay. On the down side is the slightly low performance and graphics, while its ups are definetly the gameplay, creative freedom and replayability.

Absolutely hillarious, but still with engaging, innovative and RPG-ish gameplay.

The game is in essence about the growth, consolidation, conquest, colonisation, imperialism and diplomacy of a period stretching all the way from 1444 to 1821. Its mechanics are incredibly intricate and difficult to understand, so don't despair if you still struggle after 100 hours. This intricacy and amount of mechanics increase with each DLC, so a new player might want to disable most during their first games. However, when you finally feel you understand the mechanics the game becomes both intensly satisfying and mildly infuriating. Despite its player-limiting flaws, Europa Universalis 4 is higly addictive and fun to play, especially when succeding with a difficult start, war or achievement. I recommend checking the wiki's ranking of achievements when choosing your first couple of campaigns. Good luck!
