This is a very basic but enjoyable game. The first night I played, I spent about 8 hours playing and suddenly realized it was almost 5 in the morning. I had stayed awake all night playing.

The premise is about what you'd expect from a civilization builder, although it is limited to a few small randomly generated islands/land masses. You begin by placing a simple keep down at a spot you choose and then set about gathering wood to build up homes for your villagers. There is no tutorial to speak of but the game is simple enough that you figure things out on your own. Eventually you have to start gathering more resources (iron, stone, gold through taxation, charcoal, etc). As you obtain more resources, you gain the ability to build new types of structures, and grow your village to a town and beyond.

Eventually you may attract the attention of maurading vikings you pillage and kidnap your villagers, and dragons who destroy buildings. Make sure you build up defenses against the enemies! (There is an "easy" mode that doesn't have dragons or vikings if you want a more forgiving experience.)

This game is very casual and isn't a complex game. Don't come looking for a deep experience, but if you want an easy to play and fun game that lets you relax and build a kingdom and a castle, this one is for you.

A few cons to the game, in my opinion (there are no game breaking cons as I see it, just minor annoyances):

1. The visual impact when winter sets in is a bit too harsh. I would like to see a slider to reduce the effect.
2. There should be more information about each building type as a tooltip or other help file. It isn't always clear what they do or how they work. The treasure room is an example. How to set the taxation rate isn't obvious.
3. I would really like it if there was a way to invert the camera tilt (mouse y-axis).
4. A true vertical camera would also be nice so you can look straight down at your kingdom.

By in large, the game is very fun and I am looking forward to the future of this game. The devs seem to be actively developing and adding new features, so I'm sure it will become even more fun as time goes on.

This is one of the best games I have ever played. The story is compelling, the characters are believable, the tension is palpable. I almost always turn off music in games because it is distracting. This game breaks that mould and I left the music on for the whole game. Subtle changes in tone indicate upcoming moments of risk. The background music is fitting as you wander around the various downtime scenes. The secret base you live in is complex and exquisitely detailed; it feels lived in. There are so many small amazing details. The story draws you in, and makes you want to keep playing. I have played and completed The New Order, The Old Blood, and The New Colossus and they are just magnificent games. Machine Games hit this completely out of the park. This is in the top three of my favorite games ever.

This game is still VERY much beta. It doesn't play ANYTHING like the updated Insurgency by NWI. Constant bugs, map exploits, bad map design, and the "regroup" mechanic in the game almost ALWAYS screws the defending team over because it requires people to group up in order to respawn, which rarely ever happens. As a result, the attacking team dominates maps, and it creates a cluster of players to all be killed at the same time.

Only 300 players online worldwide during primetime.

I cannot recommend this game at this time.

Very good successor to the original Red Orchestra. Slower paced gameplay than current generation FPS games, takes time to master the skills necessary to be competitive. Tank battles are epic!
