Game has a ton of genAI with no disclaimer on the store page about using it. AI chatbot NPCs and genAI character creation options are the most blatant I saw, but with that in mind, I would not be surprised to learn all the voice over work is AI (it kind of sounds like it tbh, at the very least it's subpar "read these lines, no I won't give you context for them" type voice overs).

Game is fun so far though, which is the real shame. Feels like a solid modern open world RPG game. Although it's missing a lot of polish. Animations outside of combat can be varying levels of awkward or stiff. Player character sometimes has zero facial emoting during in game cutscenes (also sometimes doesn't move their mouth at all when talking). Some attacks are prompted and cause you to launch into specific attack sequences, but it doesn't always properly center the player and enemy models, so you can just end up faceplanting into the wall from it.Some characters are not voiced at all, which is fair, but the player character that IS voiced has scattered dialogue that is not voiced at all. Lots of sound desync during cutscenes. Lots of small stuff like that littering the game in the first hour of playtime.

Overall, I want to like this game, but the genAI stuff feels lazy, and the non-disclosure feels duplicitous. It really sapped my desire to play.

Singleplayer/Co-op (5 players) Mechwarrior game with a focused campaign revolving around the early years of the Clan Invasion? Hell yeah! Even if we're playing as Clan Smoke Jaguar, that's still not something I'm going to miss.

Overall, the game is pretty solid, although that's sort of to be expected at this point, if you're familiar with the developer. This is working on the same engine and foundation as both their multiplayer game Mechwarrior Online and the previous co-op game Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries, so quite a bit of groundwork has been polished and ready to be expanded upon for years.

There's a few negative things that carry over from MW5:M, like the enemy AI's love of focusing down a single player character rather than picking out a closer, more imminent threat of a friendly AI. It's not quite as bad as I remember from Mercenaries, sometimes they do change targets, but usually that's after they've pummeled you with several volleys and you've had to completely break LOS to save yourself.

Friendly AI still loves getting into minimum range for some reason. Even if you equip them with a full sniper loadout, you'll see them run up to 100m to duke it out. This is especially egregious if said sniper 'Mech is one designed to be built as such, since the tradeoff to that is typically paper-thin armor (for their weight class, at least). I find myself dropping a few tons of weapons on AI 'Mechs just to beef them up with some extra armor sometimes so their melee tendencies can be mitigated.

Defend missions can still be a pain depending on AI pathing as well, as walking through buildings remains a devastating way to destroy a base. Extra points this time around when they give you a Defend objective in one mission that's 900m+ away and the enemy lance is already attacking it.

But all of that aside, man the game is still a blast. Clan 'Mechs really prove they are superior as every mission sees you punching well above your tonnage and it's actually very fair even in the early game with little to no upgrades on your weapons and 'Mechs.

The story was also pretty good in my opinion. You play as a no-name trueborn (as in, not anyone already famous from any existing media) who is out to prove themselves worthy alongside their remaining sibkin after the entirety of the rest of their Sibko died throughout their training. Throughout the story, you do that and more, as you take part of Operation Revival, the prophesied return of the Clans to Inner Sphere space to bring order to the Great Houses. Although this game's story does not span the entirety of the Clan Invasion, it covers many key moments which were great to see. Although if you are not already knowledgeable of the timeline, the way the game presents some if it can feel a bit incomplete, although in my opinion it's not done too poorly as to be outright confusing. The story is otherwise pretty linear, with one branching choice late in the game that doesn't have too great of an impact from a gameplay perspective, as it only ends up affecting the final act of the game.

There's a lot of clan culture that doesn't adequately get explained in the game that I think is a shame. For example, they talk quite often of issuing batchall's to enemy commanders but never explain what that is. We also never really get to learn about what bidding is or why it is important. They don't even really fully explain Trueborns and Freeborns, even though it forms the backbone of quite a bit of the inter-character conflict that happens in the story.

Overall, I recommend this game, particularly if you're a Battletech/Mechwarrior fan. If you're not, then I can still recommend it if you enjoy big 'Mech combat that is more or less reminiscent of armored cavalry war simulator games like World of Tanks (just replace the traditional tanks with much taller and bipedal tanks that are called 'Mechs instead). The campaign is roughly 20-30 hours long depending on proficiency and how long you like to spend between missions customizing your 'Mechs. There's not really any scenarios to play aside from the story missions though, at least not at this time, so once you complete the campaign that's pretty much it until they add more content to the game.

A highly story-driven tactical turn-based strategy game with intense story beats, challenging boss fights, and a compelling cast of characters. I found myself really digging into what was going on and trying to unravel the mystery that hovered over our characters throughout the game.

It does blunder a bit, namely in an over-use of stealth-based missions. I think they designed them really well, however it kind of falls out of the power-fantasy of the genre which is typically marked by displaying advanced strategic thinking and being rewarded for it. The stealth missions really kind of remove that from the game and operate more like puzzles to be solved. A good number of them do allow you to optionally just go guns blazing, but some do not (failure condition on being spotted) and that can be frustrating for some people. Luckily, I don't think any of the stealth missions were really all that hard, but getting an S-Rank might involve trial-and-error or just looking up a guide on Youtube or something.

Also some dialogue cutscenes can be quite lengthy (with one being almost absurdly long. They warn you ahead of time for it but it still defied my expectations) which breaks up the flow of gameplay quite a bit. The acting performances were really high quality so I didn't mind too much but it got to a point where I considered re-labeling it as a full blown Visual Novel in my mind.

But overall the game felt really good to play. Very tight turn-based gameplay with some simple but meaningful upgrade mechanics across equipment, gear, and characters that felt impactful. The story leaves off on a bit of a cliffhanger though. Not in like, a super bad way of cutting off in the middle of a climactic scene or anything. More like they just really set up for a sequel game and now I am left wondering if it will ever exist and give me closure.

Some technical things about the game I really enjoyed:

Artstyle was really good. Very serious looking anime-style. Comparisons that come to mind are things like 86 or Steins;Gate. The gameplay sprite characters are chibi-fied, true, but it plays it straight and there's not any nonsense.

Voice acting was superb. Not only was it well directed, but they had some serious A-lister talent on the project as well. Standing ovation to the performances given in this game.

Sound design was really good. I feel like they could have added some more ambient sounds to some of the narration scenes but outside of that it sounded great. Sometimes the combat music duplicated on itself and I'm not sure what caused it.

Overall I highly recommend this game!

Honestly this was a very fun tactical turn-based strategy game. I haven't purchased or played the DLC, just the main game. I'm sure that the DLCs add some extra variety to the game but honestly even what was present in the base game still felt pretty good.

It definitely wasn't perfect, but what we got was something that deserves a sequel. In the same way that, IMO, XCOM 2 improved well upon the formula of XCOM 1, I believe a MS2 could be a better version of this.

If you're a Marvel fan, I think this is even more of a joy. There's lots of references to enjoy within the game in various forms, from name drops of different characters, collectibles of vintage comic books, to character cosmetics that reference different versions of the available roster, there's a treasure trove of "oh cool!" moments to be had for fans. It's clear that the people who made this game either were Marvel fans or at the very least made sure to do their homework to deliver an authentic Marvel video game experience.

There are some things they could have done better for sure, I think some character balance was off and some of the RPG elements felt rough, but at the end of the day what I played was a polished experience that by all accounts should have done way better commercially than it did.

Now for some scores:

Story - 7/10
It's kind of campy but that fits in well with a super hero storyline. You've got an apocalypse looming on the horizon and you, The Hunter, are prophesied to play a key role in it. You're accompanied by two main hero groups: The Avengers, the veteran apocalypse-averting crew we all know, and the Midnight Suns, a group of (mostly) young blood who've been united as a team specifically to help fight off the forces of Lilith. You'll meet up with some extra characters too, especially with the DLC, but beyond that you maintain a core group of just a dozen or so characters that you'll take on missions and become friends with. Honestly, I really enjoyed the story but it's got the typical amount of required hand-wavey-ness that most super hero stories require you to undergo in order for it to fit together, so it certainly isn't a masterpiece.

Gameplay - 8/10
It is, at the same time, less and more tactical than other games in the same genre. You forgo the typical battle map with cover, flanking, and Overwatching-All-The-Time and replace it with environmental hazards and a card battle system. With only (typically) 3 card plays per turn though, sometimes your favorite characters can end up just sitting there looking pretty if you just don't draw their cards, which feels bad. Also unless you have certain characters in your party, the environmental hazards can sometimes just be too difficult to incorporate into your battle strategy. But with the way it is built, it works well, and that's valuable in it's own right.

Sound - 7/10
Pretty basic sound design, but I give props to the voice acting. The characters all sounded perfect to me. I don't know if these people have played these characters in other media, but they knocked it out of the ballpark here.

Graphics - 6/10
In some ways they did really well and in others it could use more work. During cutscenes, there's a weird out-of-focus issue when it is focused on a character's face where the character is blurry but the background is in focus. Also the world details were pretty sparse. The battlemaps you play on are very barebones. The cutscenes seem to be pre-rendered, so if you're playing on highest graphics the cutscenes are actually downgraded. All in all it could be improved upon but it doesn't look bad.

Performance - 8/10
I didn't play this game on release, so I'm sure there were stability patches that made my experience much smoother than it would have been for people on release, but I can't change that so all I can say is that it ran pretty great more or less. There was some issues, like if I moved a lot of characters around at once it could get really confused as to what to do. The final mission also started really wigging out on me for a bit (a save and reload fixed it). But I can't say I can complain too much here.

Overall - 7/10
I definitely recommend it if you're a fan of tactical turn based games or superhero games. There's multiple difficulty settings as well to make it fit your desired challenge, and the only thing that affects is how much "gloss" you get as a reward per mission (a resource used to buy some home base outfits and combat outfit colors for your roster of characters, aka cosmetics). There are some outfits for the characters that require either the season pass or premium currency to acquire which I'm not a huge fan of, but by the end of the game I had everyone decked out in their Midnight Suns outfits so the premium cosmetics are very avoidable IMO. I haven't bought any of the DLC as previously mentioned, mostly because the given price point seems high IMO. I can't comment on it other than that. The base game though is definitely worth it, especially if it's on any kind of sale.

Summary

This is a pretty bold foray into the 40k universe by Fatshark, a dev most known for their portrayals of fantasy themed games. That said, it's clear that beyond being fans of fantasy, the devs are fans of Warhammer as a whole.

This game oozes 40k style in a way that we've only really been able to glimpse before. The most successful games in the 40k universe have always been focused on the larger scale of warfare. Meanwhile, games that bring everything down to the much more personal level of an FPS have had a rough go at it. Unfortunately this game is also suffering from its share of issues, but still delivers a 40k experience that stands atop those that came before it.

So lets summarize my recommendation before breaking things down in detail. As of now I tentatively give it a recommend, only because I think it's still worth experiencing this game, especially if you're a 40k fan. The gameplay is visceral and rewarding in the execution. The artwork and overall graphical design is spectacular. The sound design is superb, not just the soundtrack but also everything else like weapon sounds, enemy yells, and voice acting. All of this though does get marred by an unstable experience, questionable progression systems, and a lazy cash shop. If you're looking for the next best horde shooter experience, I definitely recommend this. If you're looking to make this your next "forever game", I would maybe hold off before you disappoint yourself needlessly. If you're a longtime fan of Vermintide 2, the developer's previous game, the changes made all over the game may be enough to push you away back into VT2's Taal's Keep. If you just want to play a good 40k FPS, this is probably the best one yet. Lets get into some scores and some more detail though.

Story - 4/10
The story exists, but it's pretty barebones and if you aren't paying attention to every comment the characters make you're going to miss a bunch of it. Honestly not too surprised here, VT2 also had a pretty insubstantial storyline. In VT2, they eventually started expanding the story out of game via Lohner's Journal, an out-of-game blog of sorts that details the musings of the man in charge over there. It remains to be seen if we'll get a similar drip feed of lore and story for Darktide.

Gameplay - 9/10
If you've played VT2, then you more or less know what to expect here. The gameplay feels so good here, with most of it being largely the same as what was present in their previous game. That's a huge plus in my book, as VT2 remains my favorite game almost entirely due to the gameplay. There are a few things that both bump it up and down when compared directly to VT2 though, but overall I'm giving it the same score I gave VT2.

If you haven't played VT2, the gameplay is pretty unique compared to other horde shooters you may have played. For one, your melee weapon is extremely important as you can't really just gun down hordes with your guns without a lot of effort. Not that you should want to, as the melee combat is very crisp and visually satisfying. There are still a lot of the same issues that VT2 had though probably because they built on the same foundation as that game was. Enemies can silently appear behind you and stab you in the back. Enemies can slide to keep up with you. Some enemies can hit/shoot you through walls that you can't retaliate through. If you play carefully though, you'll find a very rewarding experience here.

So what's different from VT2? Well not much, but there's a lot more shooting, specifically in your direction this time around. Half the enemy roster has guns of some sort, and being a sci-fi universe it really wouldn't make too much sense otherwise. But every character in this game has a pretty wide array of their own ranged weapons to shoot back with. From spray'n'pray bullet hoses to surgical marksman rifles, you've got a lot more options than VT2 had. Consequently though i feel melee variety has gone down. Everyone more or less has a handful of either swords or axes to pick from, with a couple unique weapons for each person thrown in. There's no polearms or spears, no flails, and only the Ogryn gets a shield this time around.

Sound - 7/10
Like I said in the summary, the sound design in this game is great. So why is the score a C instead of an A? Well, I think there are some bugs in this area that are currently hampering the score, and some of the sound cues in game could be enhanced to make auditory clarity better. Before complaining, I want to say though that the guns sound perfect to me. Boltgun is meaty. Lasguns are crisp. Autoguns are poppy. I could go on but basically I love it. I think the psyker bolts from their staffs is possibly bugged though, it sounds really loud when the bolts hit terrain, like way louder than it should. Biggest issue is auditory clarity, as I think some sounds in game could use some changes to make them more distinct.

Graphics - 8/10
Visually stunning game that is otherwise marred by the inherent need to be grimdark. Not saying that having the lights down low is inherently a wrong choice, but if you take a weapon with an actual good flashlight on it (not the crappy one everyone has by default) and look around, you'll notice a world of detail that otherwise looks like a silhouette under normal circumstances. But beyond that, the graphics of this game go above and beyond, perhaps to the detriment of many mid-tier systems.

There are some areas that could use some work, particularly particle effects and lighting. Psyker's flamer staff is visually blinding if you're right next to it. If you shine a flashlight into an area that has directed light sources (example: floodlights) it has a weird amplification effect that washes out your view (not sure if there's some graphical settings that can fix this, haven't messed around too much here since settling on a config that is mostly stable).

Stability/Performance - 4/10
Right now this is, for me, the biggest problem this game has. Honestly I can't say I'm surprised, as every time VT2 had a big update it came with a host of stability issues. So the brand new game they just launched should also have issues, and it has them alright. I mentioned earlier how you need a beefy rig in order to see how visually stunning this game is. Unfortunately the beefiest rigs still can't see that to it's fullest as graphical stability is one of the main issues plaguing the game right now. I'm on a top of the line rig at the moment and while i can play the game on it's highest graphical settings with plenty of frames to spare, that usually means crashing to desktop several times per mission. Instead I play the game at medium detail with RTX off so that I can mostly get through a full gaming session with minimal crashing. This seems to be a large focus right now for the devs post launch, so I'm hoping that as time goes on, I'll be able to push this game to its rightful limits.

Overall Score - 7/10
See summary for overall details and thoughts.

If you've made it this far, I'm sorry it was so wordy, but my original version of this was 2,219 characters over limit. I have complicated feelings on this game and needed to get them written out. I do genuinely believe it's a good, if not great game that is hampered by a lot of issues that are legitimately fixable. We'll see if Fatshark are willing to take the steps necessary to put the game to rights by their fans and customers. They've shown in the past a vast willingness to make big changes to benefit the players, so lets hope they continue that trend.

Update 6/9/2025: To date, I think many of the issues above(especially the performance issues) have been addressed or mitigated in some way to where I would give this game a full recommend anyone who would enjoy an FPS horde shooter game.

This is one of my favorite games of all time. It certainly isn't "the best" but considering what they set out to do with this game, I feel they managed to go above and beyond.

This game is a first person horde "shooter" à la Left 4 Dead. The biggest variance from L4D will of course be that it's a fantasy setting and so the combat is much more focused on the melee weapons instead of the ranged weapons. Some characters can blast away all day with their bows/magic staffs/guns but by and large you'll be swinging axes and swords the majority of the time. The enemy structure is very similar to L4D as well. Regular enemies that swarm you, advanced enemies that are harder to kill, special enemies with unique abilities designed to disrupt/disable you, and monsterous enemies that take a team effort to dispatch. This game also includes "bosses" which are capstone enemies to the various "Acts" of the game. These are the toughest enemies in the game (usually) with unique abilities and arenas.

It's set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe and features a cast of 5 characters who each have a variety of classes they can play. Each class is unique to the character that owns them and provides unique gameplay styles. Class systems like this are somewhat common in this genre, think of something like Killing Floor. On top of this though, the actual weapons you get to use are unique to each character and/or class as well. For example, only Sienna, the Fire Wizard, gets to use the fire staff weapons. Through a combination of class and weapons, you will likely find yourself gravitating toward a specific character that matches your favored playstyle. Thankfully, there's no real "best" character. While each character has a (debatable) "best" class, there are enough high tier classes spread across all characters so that no matter who you want to play, you won't feel sub-optimal.

The characters you play as are one of my favorite parts of this game. Each member of the party has a very unique personality and the voice acting is very well done. They banter and ruminate often, letting you get to know each of them through these interactions. If you get into this game, you will undoubtedly gravitate towards at least one character and have a favorite.

Overall I will probably always recommend this game unless they just turn off matchmaking and kill the game.

SCORES:
Story - 6/10. The base story you will get in game is pretty lackluster. You're just running around stomping some Big Bads in order to prevent a massive invasion via the Skittergate. There is a lot more story and lore told through community updates and such but if all you do is play the game, you won't see this.

Gameplay - 9/10 This might be a bit personal opinion, but I find the gameplay to be extremely solid. Melee feels good, ranged feels good, abilities feel impactful, etc. This is really the main reason I come back to this game time after time. I just love hacking down hordes of ratmen while dodging around and trying to snipe specials before they can put on the hurt. It's not perfect though. The enemy spawner sometimes bugs out and pops in enemies right behind you. Enemies can animation slide into you. Sometimes they can hit you through walls. It can be a bit frustrating for sure, even though at this point I've adapted to these bugs. That's not to say it's okay they are there, but honestly a lot of it is so minor or situational that I don't know if it will ever get fixed.

Sound - 8/10 Honestly no complaints in this department either. Weapons sounds are distinct; Heavy weapons sound heavy, light weapons sound light. As mentioned above, voice acting is superb. Music is really well done as well. There is a really great soundtrack to this game that fits the maps/situations well.

Graphics - 7/10 Graphics are really good, although now a bit dated. Some textures have noticeable issues. Particle effects can be a bit off as well. Environmental textures are probably the worst (not terrible) in exchange for having better character textures (given that this is the kind of game that spawns hundreds of units on screen, that's probably a given). Overall it looks good but nothing that's going to blow you off your feet.

Mod Support 6/10 This is kind of a tough one. First off there's pretty much full mod support, although I don't know how extensively you can mod it (I am not a modder). There is a "modded realm" where you can play with all the mods on the workshop. Modded Realm progress is not official though. Basically you can't earn experience/loot for your characters in modded realm, since there are mods that can straight up give you loot. In the official realm, there is limited mod support through what is called "Sanctioned Mods". These are mods that were hand-reviewed by game devs to make sure they were compatible and didn't have major game alterations. The unfortunate part is that this sanctioned mod system has been more or less abandoned as of this review. All the mods that are sanctioned still work, but they haven't sanctioned any new mods in years, even though there are plenty that could definitely make the cut and a lot of players would really like to have. If they could just get back to regularly updating the sanctioned mods list this score would improve a lot.

Overall - 7/10 Great game. One of the tops of the genre, especially in uniqueness. I think it's worth it full price, though with the DLC in mind you may be better served waiting for a sale. Sales happen regularly for this game, especially whenever there's a Games Workshop event. As with other games of the genre, it really is best with friends although it can still be a lot of fun solo, and in fact solo runs can serve as an additional challenge for those looking for such. For those who aren't into the fantasy setting, keep an eye on the developers because they are working on a sci-fi version of this game set in the Warhammer 40k universe.

I've only put in about 10 hours of this but man is this game fun. It's pretty easy to get into and so far most of the community that I've run into has been pretty helpful. The game is definitely early access though, as there are a few issues I have with it.

- There's no really good tutorial yet. There's a video tutorial but that's pretty much it.
- Server browsing is pretty much glorified matchmaking. The servers from what I can tell are auto-generated to accomodate players. This makes it really hard to play with friends. Speaking of that.
- Team balance is completely in the hands of the players. If you and your friend join a server together, it's likely the start of the match will place you on opposite teams to balance. The only way to play together is to "request a team switch". You push a button and it notifies the server that you want to switch teams. If someone on the other team also pushes that button, then you will switch. Otherwise you are stuck on the team assigned to you.
- Some of the ships currently are pretty OP, especially against newer players who don't know what these other ships are capable of. The game has a pretty fluid system of counters and synergies that most people do not yet understand. In all honestly I have yet to run into a ship I thought that there was no way to destroy them, but there are a couple where I know it's next to impossible to deal with them if my team doesn't know what to do.
- The current win objective is zerg-rush friendly. Basically you capture points until you are allowed to warp to their base. Once you do you can start capping their base. There's no way to "uncap" any progress they make. This means a team that just constantly zergs your home base can win even if they all have a KD of 0/5.
- There's no in game friends list that I am aware of. So if you meet players in game who you want to be friends with, there's no way to do so. The game also doesn't support the steam friends feature where you can search for recently played players.
- After each match you are moved back to the home screen, meaning you are booted from the server you were in. No chance of rematch against players you played or just even a chance to play with the same people.

Even though that seems like a big list of negatives, each one only detracts from the experience (for me) in a minor way. I'm also giving them the benefit of the doubt in that it is early access. Most of the things I listed are things that could easily be fixed, so we'll just have to see. In the end though the game is super fun and I played for a few hours in a row right off the bat after getting it because it was just so addicting. In the end I would recommend you get it simply because it is really fun, but if you're looking to get it to play with friends you might want to hold off until they address that issue, or at least make a statement saying they will address it.

One of the better DW installments in my opinion. The historical and hypothetical routes gives you pretty much every scenario ever imagined so far for the series. Ambition mode is pretty interesting and really adds to the replay value. 5th and 6th weapons are for the most part a challenge to get so collectors have plenty to look forward to. I'm just really irked that they didn't include the original Japanese audio for this one. I've had it in previous DW games on consoles but for some reason they just decided not to include it.

I would definitely recommend this title to any DW fan. To those who are new to the series: It's a glorified hack'n'slash, set in the Three Kingdoms era of feudal China(following the story of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms). If that's the kind of game you enjoy, I also recommend this to you.

BREAKDOWN:

The story is given in various formats. Cinematic cutscenes are used to tell some more dramatic moments, while the stories of the battles themselves are told during gameplay through dialogue. Exposition and time skip filler story is presented in visual novel format. The story itself is, of course, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. If you've played any other DW game before, you know what that means. If not, then honestly the DW games are probably the best way for you to experience that story.

Audio is standard DW, which is both a pro and a con. A pro because it's very concise and action packed, from SFX to BG music, so the audio really adds to the impact of the game. A con because it literally has not changed since like, PS2 days. The audio is more high definition, sure, but those death screams are the same death screams I heard as a child, slaughtering thousands of hapless Chinese peasants.

Gameplay is standard of a DW game. No weird gimmicks in this one like they've experimented with before, just pure and simple attacking, blocking, parrying. However, with the game's cast of 50+ playable characters, each with their own unique weapon, the gameplay can remain fresh for quite some time if you change up who you are playing or what weapons you are using.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the one new thing they did add this installment, which is the Weapon Attunement system. Basically it's a rock/paper/scissors(or in this case Heaven/Earth/Man) system where certain attuned weapons do more damage to and allow for storm rushes against enemy officers using an attunement that is weak to yours. You are allowed two weapons and the game(and I) recomment using two different attunements in order to prevent enemy officers from having an attunement advantage.

Graphics are... console port quality. To be fair, I doubt the studio ever put a lot of attention into the peons in the first place, but they look like clay soldiers when they do close ups of their faces. The officers themselves are much more defined, and they actually look good. It's also not very optimized to run in 1080p(which is an option on the PC version). I have a pretty beefy rig but I still notice huge frame drops when I first load a mission for seemingly no reason. It smooths out quickly though and will stay running smooth until the next time I launch the game.

OVERALL:
I'm leaning on a 7.5/10 for this one. Really is a lot of fun, but I think it's a very niche game.

PS:
About the multiplayer thing: It's been my experience that DW has never had online co-op. It's always been local co-op, so not sure what to say about that. I'm not sure if they will ever do online co-op for a Musou game so don't expect it to be a thing for this one.

This game falls short on the gameplay they promised, but it's not a total flop. The combo lab is less customizable than I would have imagined or hoped it to be, and the parkour is linear in nature. Aside from that though, the game has a very compelling story. As for characters, I feel like there was much more emphasis placed on Nilin's design than every other character. She is for the most part the only character who is a fully rounded out character. Finally, as far as controls are concerned, it is painfully obvious this is a console port. If you have a game pad, I highly recommend using it for this game.

Aside from that, if you aren't too picky on depth of gameplay, and just want a fun action game with a good story behind it, go ahead and pick this game up. It was worth it in my opinion.
