A poorly made "remaster" with abysmal performance, glaring bugs, and intrusive DLC ads. For example, the engrams list (where you unlock structures to build) has a "Bob's Tall Tales" section at the lower-right that cannot be disabled. You unlock skill points as you play, for a skill tree which requires a different DLC to access. When the dinosaur that you have put tens of hours into raising dies, it is dead permanently - but wait! The corpse has a "death essence" which can be revived under the right conditions. Yes, those conditions involve owning the DLC.

Play the original Ark: Survival Evolved instead.

The worst Sonic game I have ever played, and right up there with my worst games of all time.

They took the "winning formula" of Generations, where you had some levels which were fully 2-D, and some levels which were a hybrid of 2-D and Boost-style 3-D. Then they watered it down further by adding a third playable character (that you design) which controls kind of like "modern sonic", but with a variable moveset which doesn't always gel with the level design. You do not get to choose between characters; you cycle between them based on the stage.

Within a stage, the 3-D portions almost play themselves; you run forward, and hit buttons when prompted mostly. The 2-D portions in 3-D levels are jarring, and it's hard to tell which objects and enemies are in the foreground and can be interacted with, and which are one layer behind into the background. The fully 2-D levels appear to mostly be remixes of older Sonic levels, but maybe that's your jam? Anyone looking for 2-D sonic content would be better served by playing Sonic Mania, though.

The writing and story are absolutely horrible. At one point (around stage 20) the game prompted me to press A twice, at which point Sonic announced "Good work, buddy!" I don't even have words for how awkward this is.

Every time you beat a level (most of which are either trivially easy corridors, or are scaled such that you get an "S" rank even if you die multiple times), the game showers you with cosmetic items, and I find myself having to press"A" 5-10 times after finishing a level in order to get back to the level selection.

In between levels, the cutscenes are quite lazy: They usually don't exist, instead the characters will have conversations while you are on the world map, with avatars and dialogue boxes popping up. This happens after every level, and tries to build tension with things happening offscreen.

Just replay generations, or buy an older Sonic game you don't own yet. This game is not worth playing, let alone spending money on.

I can't recommend this game highly enough. While I bought it on sale, it is easily worth its standard $15 price tag. This is a quirky adventure game with a plot that takes a while to get into, but is overwhelming by then end. Expect 3-5 hours of gameplay time... That seems short, but Brothers lasted just long enough to deliver on its promises without overstaying its welcome.
