meh. definitely not worth the years of hype at all. i had a feeling unreal would be an issue but thought all these years would iron out any issues. clearly not.


-why are you imitating an already existing engine? it just feels off. physics feel janky, the gravity gun feels odd, etc.

-weapon feedback is non-existent. the guns feel flimsy and weak, grav gun included.
-crowbar just feels weird to use, like i am hitting nothing.

-enemy design and feeling is boring. they just flop to the ground after being shot which doesnt even feel like you're doing that. cutting enemies in half isn't really fun either.

-honestly, considering the whole of the ravenholm maps already existed and you only added to them, i am surprised how little there is in this. i finished this in 10 mins. oh, and i tabbed out in the credits to write this review and i can't even tab back in, if my playtime says higher.

-headcrabs ragdolling was fine in HLA as they still wiggled and made noise. the headcrabs here do very little of either making it hard to tell if they are dead, especially when they start flying around even after dying.

-again why are you imitating an already existing engine? it feels like an imitation. maybe do your own thing or just use source/source 2?

-lastly, this whole tiny 10 min demo of basically 2 ravenholm maps in the unity engine was 5gb. hl2 in it's entirety is about 4gb. hl2 update is 6gb. god forbid how large a full game would be.

yeah idk not sure this was worth the hype. basically played through a tiny, worse feeling version of ravenholm in the snow with some fancy effects added. not much else.

yeah really not worth it icl, just feels like a cash grab. wdym premium comes with half the stuff still missing??? bruh.

Pros:

-Setting and enemies give off a Half-Life vibe (zurks look like a mashup of headcrabs and snarks with a vortigaunt eye lol).
-You are a cat and you can meow.
-Gameplay and story are decent and moderately engaging.

Cons:

-I had a few issues with areas loading in, forcing to go to checkpoints. But nothing too bad.
-The ending of the game is super super super anti-climactic. I WANT TO REUNITE WITH MY CAT FRIENDS IN THE BEGINNING

-I found it difficult to actually have a proper bond with any of the characters in the game, so their departures don't have much impact on me.

-The game has zero lag compensation. If I lagged during an area where I needed to aim with my mouse even for a few frames, my mouse would accelerate way too fast.
-No real replay value except to get achievements you might've missed.
-THIS IS NOT AN ADVENTURE GAME. At least not to me. You can't freely explore and go back to certain areas and a lot of it is story driven.

I still think this is an excellent game despite listing more cons than pros. Mainly because the pros are very huge factors as to why I think this game is good, whilst the cons are more just nitpicks on my part.

Good sequel. First is still the best game though. I do like the choice between endings.
