Great game action RPG with a successfully fun repetitive gameplay structure. If you think you'd enjoy a hunting game with fantasy beasts set in a semi-realistic setting then you'll probably get some enjoyment out of this


The gameplay loop is pretty simple yet manages to keep itself fresh by offering many different equipment sets and styles of play

The mechanics can get deep and the game will be mechanically demanding at times. Some of the tougher monsters at the very end of the DLC will have mechanics that feel unfair at times but it almost never genuinely is unfair.

The base game (LR+HR) can definitely feel a slog at times, so the pacing is kind of out of whack there - though besides some tedious grinding I wouldn't say the game doesn't respect the player's time.

Controls are snappy and responsive but the game itself can be slow, methodical and sometimes clunky. Hitboxes are the tightest they've ever been and the turn-based style of the battles feel amazing once it clicks.


Graphics are gorgeous, bright and colourful and just amazing - the best they've been and apart from some textures I 100% prefer this direction over Rise/Wilds

Music is a solid 7/10, with the sound effects on sound design easily being 10/10 for me.

Honestly MH games never had strong stories or plotlines besides a few outliers. This game doesn't really change that, the story is there but it's weak.

Tons of replay value here, too. Just sucks that you can't skip cutscenes without a mod, and replaying the first 30% of the game feels unbearable at times.

Very good game! It's on sale often, but I'd recommend it even at full price. Don't buy it full price tho.
