It's probably the best Digimon game to date, which is to say it's a solid 7.5 or 8 out of 10 for me. The game flow is smoother than Cyber Sleuth though it also lacks a few nice features that were unique to CS (the huge party reserves, passive Abilities, etc), handling more like earlier Digimon Story titles in some respects. Digimon fans should love it; at least try the demo if you're on the fence.

It's far from perfect, though. The game is hindered by some awful pacing, frankly baffling narrative decisions, and possibly the worst minigames I've ever seen. While not the worst offender, the game swings back and forth between being wide open for exploration to suddenly being a series of thinly disguised hallways and back again with little warning, often locking you off from optional areas until much later (10+ hours) into the game.
For some reason I can't explain, the conceptually interesting Armor and Spirit evolutions, statistically on par with Champion level Digimon, are locked behind a side quest that only becomes available around the time that you unlock Ultimate Digimon, making the Armor and Spirit Digimon obsolete novelties for the most part.
The animated cutscenes have an aesthetically interesting shadow puppet style that I enjoy; what I don't enjoy is when the game starts throwing them at me every twenty minutes to recap events from the immediate previous scene, only occasionally offering slightly more insight into the situation than was just given. It's a good feature that's used in a mostly detrimental way that I can't blame anyone for skipping.
The minigames... From the "card game" to the Outer Dungeons, these are just bad. The fact that the card battles are designed to resemble the old V-Pets is charming but the game itself is almost entirely random. Cards are given a numeric Level and a Type but even having an advantage of both doesn't guarantee winning a matchup. I'd estimate that if you start with a good hand (five cards chosen randomly from your entire collection) and can play it well, you have a roughly 25% chance of losing anyway. This also works in your favor though, so even if you lack strong cards or play them randomly you might win anyway. There are extra mechanics for matching cards in your hand to "summon" new cards but this is more for the collection aspect since you can earn them by winning matches.
The Outer Dungeons contain five minigames that range from mildly amusing the first time you do it (Speed is Victory, Time Attack Boss Battle, Survive to the End) to just plain boring (Protect the Giant Digimeat, Fight the Ultimate Digimon), each with four levels of difficulty. To add to the strange decisions, these appear out of order so you're likely to find one that's too difficult to complete early in the game and then find the Level 1 (basically the tutorial version) hours later when there's no challenge whatsoever. But the worst offense is the last one I mentioned, Fight the Ultimate Digimon, that involves interacting with a portal to teleport to an adjacent platform to watch a short scene of the Digimon you're about to fight before it starts. You'll choose between two Baby or Rookie level mons, then after choose between two different Champions usually, then after choose between two either Ultimate or sometimes Mega Digimon. There are eight paths to go, each repeating the first two of the three battles which usually take less time than navigating the platforms between them.
And that brings me to the last complaint I have about the game, some of the regular map traversal is just as bad as this. Places where you have to use Palmon to swing from vines gets repetitive for how slow it goes but the absolute worst offender is the Dark Area's Gekkomon travel. It's not only painfully slow but semi-random and you have to do it over, and over, and over, and over again, navigating the area twice.

In summary: I adore most of this game but I have no idea what the heck the devs were on when they made some of these decisions. Most of the negative aspects are purely optional (not the annoying navigation on a couple maps) while the standard Digimon Story gameplay loop is better than ever.

Yeah it's alright. It's nothing unique or special but the game is competently made and generally good quality.

It's just darn good. It can be a little buggy but nowhere near Bethesda Buggy and the companions are too thirsty for their own good but it's good fun for hours and hours on end. Just make sure you like turn based combat beforehand and remember that nearly every combat scenario is A DnD Session that isn't meant to end quickly.

This version of the game is basically unsupported and prone to breaking.

The combat is solid and the game generally looks pretty good. The story acts as a hard reboot of the series which isn't a particular issue for me. However the create a character reuses assets from previous games but not enough of them, leaving it feeling a bit lacking if you played IV and V.

If you haven't played the other games, you won't get a lot of the jokes and references. If you have played the other games, you're gonna see a lot of the same characters, enemies, and dungeon layouts. Still a charming playthrough.

If Pokémon and Digimon had a baby then on its 21st birthday that baby would be Temtem.

Anyone who's wanted a more challenging Pokémon game that caters to adult fans (through adult language and humor without being vulgar or crass) is sure to enjoy this game. The stylized graphics are crisp and colorful in a way I personally find more pleasing to the eye than, say, the textures of SwSh for example.

The learning curve can be a little steep so consider keeping reference materials handy while learning which Tems have which of the twelve types and how they interact; it's similar enough to Pokémon types to be both intuitive at times and but trip you if you're not careful. Expect a grind similar to early RBY though there is an Exp Share style item available a couple hours in. Don't expect a few extra levels to let you breeze through the next area, though.

A head's up if you're homophobic or intolerant of topics like gender diversity: many NPCs are very casually gay and respectful of non-binary identities and the like, so save all of us the headache and give this one a pass.

After playing this one and being unable to progress past the second mission due to glitching, I'd rather play the original Defiance. It's essentially the same game with less customization and more bugs.
