I agree, Valve should've had that in this game like they did in the original. Fortunely, Valve did announce that Portal 2 DLC will be arriving this summer. I'm interested to see what exactly it'll add .

Definitely -- I'm trying to finish up SP before I jump into co-op as well. The SP is amazing compared to the original Portal, I'm really really enjoying it. With that said, I'll shoot you a message when I've beaten it
