All of the fun of previous XCOMs, but I can do 5 or 6 missions in an evening, and there's no waiting on the Geoscape. The new classes give a squad a slew of strategic decisions right from the beginning.

I purchased this game on deep discount, expecting some good old Ork slaying in the vein of Plants vs. Zombies. While it never got good, it sure got old, and fast.

- No matter how hard I tried, I could only select Orks as my campaign. Until the game crashed.
- Every level past the first few can be defeated with the same 3-troop, 2-Teef setup, eventually swapping out a Teef building for an armory. There is little to no variety in the levels-though sometimes out of boredom I would attempt to beat them with 3-tower setups or building Trukks.
- Skirmish levels were an interesting concept, with limited troops and options, but only one took more than 2 tries to complete. That one took about 20, because it required both a little luck and impeccable timing. I only completed it out of spite.

Scratches neither the PvZ nor the WH40K itches-and if it can't do that, I don't think this game does anything but bore and frustrate.

Elegantly paced and continually mysterious. This somehow succeeded at leaving me guessing while not frustrating me with seemingly out-of-place, 11th-hour twists. The characters all oozed their unique personalities.

Combat is satisfying-the level design catered to several fighting styles while never allowing me to get complacent. Combining vigors with weapons is what I loved from the original, but the addition of sky-lines and gear to build your own fighting style made the experience fresh.

The soundtrack is pretty righteous, too.

Get it, if only for the line "go ahead Mr. DeWitt, I'll be fine down here." And she was.
