As someone who has been playing since a year or two after the official launch on multiple accounts - I can say that you should not EVER play this game as a Monster Collection game.
This game still has no pity system even after more than a decade and the community crying for it for years now. The company literally doesn't care and just tries to squeeze you dry.

The actually usable units range from 3-5*, and some 2* that got a secondary awakening, with 5* being the rarest as you can imagine. The rates to summon a 4* are quite low sitting at 8% compared to the actual amount of the same copy of the 4* that you need. There is also no other ways of getting said 4* to skill up your monsters. There are some 4* pieces that you can buy from the guild shop, but for the most useful 4* you will need to summon those. (Also you need 50 pieces. Per purchase you gain 10 and the shop only refreshes every 8h and the pieces are not guaranteed, meaning the page could have absolutely nothing useful in it.)

As for the 5* monsters you get an amazing rate of 0.5% of summoning them. Not that bad (if we look at other Gacha game rates they are quite similar, which I personally still think are ridiculous rates), since they are supposed to be hard to get. If it wasn't for the fact that there is no pity system and you can just summon 500+ scrolls without getting one or even worse getting the same 5* monster after summoning 634 scrolls and that monster is one of the worst in the entire game for years now. (No, I am not speaking about personal experience. How would you even come to that conclusion?)
I'll give it to them they added a curse disguised as a "Blessing" that let's you choose one of two 5* the next time you summon a 5*, which again could be after 1000 scrolls for all we know. Best part about this is that to get this blessing you have to sacrifice your duplicate 5* monster to get it and even then it's not guaranteed that you will get a new monster. Both of those could still be duplicates and the 5* monster you just used to get this blessing could still pop up as a choice.

If you think summoning a 5* sounded bad - that was child's play. Listen to this: There are Light & Dark (LD) scrolls. The rarest scrolls in the entire game where you can summon a 3-5* LD monster. It takes a month just to get an amount of LD scrolls that you can count on one hand and if you are lucky you can count with a few more fingers on the other hand. If you are summoning these scrolls in hopes of getting those juicy 4* and 5* LD monsters you are on some other type of copium. The rates for 4* for LD scrolls are sitting at 6% and 5* at 0.35% (this are official rates you can get in the game). I have gotten 1 LD5 ever since I started playing the game. I got really lucky without even knowing it a few months after I started playing the game and never gotten a new LD5 after that.

There are legendary scrolls that only summon 4*-5* and the rates for these are 93.5% 4* and 6.5% 5*. Again - Dupes are possible.
There also is a Legendary All-Attribute Scroll with the following rates: Default 4* 85.4%, LD 4* 7.5%, Default 5* 6.7%, LD 5* 0.4%. Amazing 0.05% increase. Very generous of them.

For those who are interested in the PvP aspect of the game: Why would you do that to yourself? This is just as RNG as summoning. They have "Violent" runes that give your monsters another turn with a 22% chance. This has no limit. A monster (99% of the time your enemy) can gain 2 to infinite turns and even with garbage runes they will mess you up, because you can't get a turn since the enemy just procs as much as they want. Most monsters are build with Violent runes for PvP. This is literally one of few reasons why I have stopped playing PvP actively and there are many others who actually quit the game because of this. I am not joking when I am saying it's that bad. If you asked active PvP players now I am sure they could list way more things than me and therefore I just mentioned the biggest reason for me to quit PvP.

Anyone who disagrees with these points have literally fallen into a hole that they can't get out of that is called Summoners War. They are so used to being treated like garbage that they think getting bread crumbs after a decade, equals to their master finally showing them some love after beating them close to death thousands of times. These bread crumbs are basically just QoL changes and some dungeon changes (which basically just give you higher rune rarity, which btw should've been done a LONG time ago and not when they saw that a lot more people are quitting than usual).
These changes were asked for by the community for years and years aswell, but yeah. You see how this company loves their community.

The game itself would be fun, but the negative emotions just keep stacking up the more you summon and play. There is no actual relief of finally getting that unit that you wanted, because once you have it you will feel that relief for a day or two and then look back and realize that it's been a decade since you have first started to try and get this monster and in some cases if your most wanted is a LD 5* - I guess you will be spending hundreds of thousands of Euros/Dollars and still not get that unit. People need to wake up from their fever dreams and actually speak out to these money hungry Gacha game companies.
