I am a partially hairless bipedal mammal. Weighing in at just under 75 kilograms, I am most commonly found in the boreal forests of North America.

In the winter, I emit a "chirrut-chirrut-chirruteroo" call, which changes to a "hruuungh!" bellow during mating season.

A snare baited with peanut butter-smeared meat will often catch me; however, my threatened status makes this illegal in most circumstances. Federal Wildlife Service regulations make it illegal to interfere with me without a (FMVSS 13R.4) permit.

Once common over a range stretching from Stone Mountain in Georgia, north to the Canadian Maritimes, and as far west as the Iron Hills of Michigan, habitat depletion and hunting for my plumage during the early 20th Century mean I am a rare sight today.
