Blender is a great choice for designer. You can model, sculpt, animate, script, and more. I have been using Blender for a while now and would recommend this program to others who are interested in a free software for creating 3D models, as well as 2D. It takes a bit of practice but is overall very user friendly once you learn how to use the program. I am using Blender to create 3D game assets and have been enjoying every minute of usage. I also recommend using this program with substance painter to get the PBR materials applied to your objects that you create.
