All in all, it's a short, sweet and fun little god game. Can't wait to see how it expands.

There's at least 3 species to choose per planet, and they appear at random, so there's a lot of replay value to be had as well. Different events lead to different societies and even entirely new outcomes; I had furry pig-men merchants in one corner of the galaxy go through multiple apocalypses while the dolphins on Sol made their way to colonize a new world with a moon. Said pig-men sent a fleet away before apocalypse #2 that split upon finding a new world. Meanwhile there were desert birds sending troll memes into space. All of this was just one point of a 4 hour game.

It's very good at making you anticipate (and appreciate) the far-reaching consequences of your choices. The pig-men I mentioned sent out a strong signal very early on that almost every other species in the galaxy would hear, but it moved very slowly across the galaxy. Thrice I had colonization fleets moving towards already-occupied planets, only for something to stop them all 3 times (the local species was wiped out before their arrival, the megaship starved to death, and I beat the game before the fleet arrived, respectively). For a long time after I chose to allow the Balur to nearly starve to death, they had "Starved" in their name (The Balur Starved Kingdoms, for example).

While the music is made a bit less impactful when you're not actually in-game, they're still great soundtracks and I'm glad I bought them. I've been listening to Megalovania and Spider Dance for a long while today ;)

This game was released in a broken state. I and many others were unable to even get into the game due to multiple game-crashing bugs that hit you right at the start. In my case, I ran into the language select bug - every time you start the game, you have to select what language the audio is in, but if you have an audio set-up that the game doesn't like (in my case, surround 7.1 which i couldn't change) the game will crash immediately after the options pop up.

I waited a week and this still was not fixed, so I got a refund. DO NOT buy this game until this is fixed (check the forum to be sure). I doubt I will even then.

I never really understood the appeal behind games that kick your ass before I picked this little number up. There's a few tech and UI issues, but they are few and far between (my first playthrough didn't run into a problem until the last encounter of the LAST mission) and far outweighed by how much of a joy this game is to play.

You really get attached to your squad, even if you don't customize them yourself. The game can be challenging, painful, and downright creepy at times, but it all comes together to make your final triumph all the sweeter. The minute I was done playing, I wanted to start another playthrough. I got it on a massive Steam sale, and genuinely feel like I ripped the company off. This game is worth the full price any day.

So yes. PLAY THIS THING. PLAY IT.
