THIS IS A REVIEW ON THE ONLINE PORTION OF THE GAME. IT IS THE MODE I PLAYED MOST AND GENERALLY ENOYED THE MOST

tldr: used to be really fun and now it dead and boring



Let me just get this out of the way: this is an amazing game with lots of things to do. If I were only allowed to play one video game, I would likely choose this one because it has so many things to do and such high replayability.

I first played this game on 360 the early years it came out. During that time, I wasn't really into storys in video games, so I really only played online. I spent hundreds of hours doing this, and it felt like it never got boring. Occasionally, I could get all of my friends on and we could cause mayhem on the servers we joined. Then, I switched to pc and essentially forgot about the game, didn't play it for months.

A while ago I noticed it was half off sale, thought what the hell and bought it with hopes of reliving the fun I used to have online.

I got into an online server, and was crushed almost immedietely. All of the FUN things of online (huge battles getting started in the servers, playing full races and deathmatches with other players, making friends in the servers with voice chat), were completely nonexistent.
The servers are almost always dead. Even if it's full of 19 other players, no one says anything to eachother or interacts in any way, which is pretty much the point of online.
It seems as though nobody plays the races, deathmatches, or any of the missions. Since I bought the game on PC, I have never been in a race or deathmatch with more that 4 other players, and we will without fail say nothing to eachother.

So that's why I don't recommend it. Half of the game isn't fun anymore.

would be fun if i could go 30 seconds without dying. i'm not kidding, everyone in this game is a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and will kill you for no reason at all.

This is a game I got on sale for $1. The most i'd pay for it is maybe 3, and after getting to chapter 5 i can't recommend it. Figuring out how to kill your victims is an extremely boring process, probably even more so if i didnt use any walkthroughs or anything like that. It's also a big flaw that each of the victims only has one way they can die, so you get no freedom in that, which is what would make the game fun (if it had it). Kinda fun, very very boring and not worth the work once you finally figure out how to finish the chapter. I'd only recommend it it's on a big sale.

p.s. my hours aren't accurate, ive probably left the game open on accident a few times.

After seeing "R to Restart" so many times, I suggest they rename it to "Hotline Cry-ami"

Overall, I enjoyed the game while playing it, and felt very involved with the story throughout the game. The soundtrack is nice, the graphics are very nice to look at, and the overall character design is good as well. However, the ending left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

Basically, at the end you can either save the town or chloe (your best friend throughout the game). To me, the whole game had a lot of twists and turns and some very unexpected things happened, but this ending was so cliche. What made it worse, was that the more I thought about it, I started to realize that any of the choices you make throughout the game don't matter whatsoever, cause in the end its Chloe or the town. Which is why im not recommending it.

I would say, "This is the kind of game you just have to play with the lights off in fullscreen". But you can't.

I've had this game for a bit but never wrote a review for it, but now for some reason I feel like I should. If you like fast-paced fighters, (and are impatient like me) then you WILL like this game. You might not love it, but you will, without a doubt, get some sort of enjoyment from it. The controls feel responsive, the gameplay is exciting, and like a lot of others have said, when you die, you feel like it was your fault, not the game's.

This game didn't hold my attention for very long, but it's still fun to play every once in a while.

This game is amazing. It has it's flaws, but they aren't completely gamebreaking. I just got this game earlier tonight and I'm hooked. The bad reviews are complaining about bad connection, and it's true.

This game has terrible servers.

But if you can just look passed that this game is amazing

The music is great, the gameplay is great, the controls feel natural, there are tons of gamemodes, all of which are equally fun, and the hitboxes feel fair
