METICULOUSLY CRAFTED MAPS AND THE MOST FUN COMBAT TO EVER GRACE ANY HORDE SHOOTER, except it's ruined by the fact that fatshark is a bunch of room temperature IQ apes who don't actually play videogames.

this game is plagued with bugs that should have been fixed ages ago alongside crashes that require the player to go out of their way to find solutions to them, which the average joe won't bother doing. he will play, have his game crash a few times, complain on forums and then never look back. there's a great reason why this game has only 5k - 6k players on average. AND THE ONLY REASON THOSE PEOPLE EVEN KEEP PLAYING IS EITHER FOR:
THE 40K SETTING
or
THE AFOREMENTIONED GOD TIER COMBAT SYSTEM

those are just the general issues that everyone has been complaining about for years so I'm not going to ramble about that too much. you need at least twenty mods for the gameplay to feel more smooth and also if you want to stop wasting your time going through menus and walking to mission terminals and shops (so, GOOD GOD those console andies have the patience of a saint). oh also greedy monetization blah blah

but why did I even bother writing this review now, after almost 600 hours of playing this game? so I began playing around the start of december. it's the first time I actually get to experience an update live, ALL EXCITED FOR WHAT FATSHARK WILL PUT ON MY PLATE (OH HOW NAIVE AND FOOLISH I WAS) (hint: it's a pile of doodoo).
and what I am greeted with is a half-baked pointless gamemode that offers nothing unique. in short it's this open world (🤮) that looks exactly the same everytime you play it, is made of three sections (all of which look the same, again)... and it has A TIME LIMIT OF FIFTEEN MINUTES PER SECTION. they for some reason thought that it'd be fun to put a TIME LIMIT ON A GAMEMODE THAT REQUIRES YOU TO TAKE YOUR TIME LOOTING ♥♥♥♥. so what's the point in picking up the two types of loot? between each section there's a shop that you can spend your currency on to buy... the basic pickups that the base game already has, but also NEW USABLE ITEMS which are just... grenades from other classes. now that's epic. the other type of loot just lets you unlock higher difficulties to play on the same map with boring ass tedious mission modifiers, WHICH I AM NOT EVEN GOING TO TALK TOO MUCH ABOUT BY THE WAY BECAUSE IT'S JUST ANOTHER GENERAL ISSUE THAT THIS GAME HAS WHERE THEY ADD MISSION MODIFIERS THAT ARE JUST BORING TO DEAL WITH. the gamemode offers nothing new. it is inferior to the default gamemode in every way. even the previously added gamemode had a "horde wave" system akin to killing floor, aswell as passives that are not available elsewhere.

"b-but you could just ignore that gamemode!", oh I will. but unfortunately this patch crippled two of the classes that people enjoyed playing. veteran and hivescum. I don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ they are thinking, but the developers make me think that they are balancing this game around the normal (heresy) difficulty and not even considering the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that the endgame (h40) can throw at you. they will look at players having fun with strong fun-to-use abilities and be like "nahhh that's too strong bro, other classes can't catch up to their power level bro, you need to spend less time actually playing the game bro" okay how about instead of nerfing stuff in your hard-as-balls game, you instead buff the weaker ones to be on-par with those things that you so badly want to nerf? how about you just make everything else fun?

the redditor and the corpo bootlicker reading this will think to himself "oh haha git gud! you should be able to deal with nerfs! you probably just suck at the game!" to those people I must say: I am better than you at video games. you are not going to find many people who will consistently do well in havoc 40 with complete randoms, especially not with so little hours invested into the game. you are most likely busy eating ♥♥♥♥ in auric and ragequitting 5 seconds after dying to a specialist.

do not get me wrong, I want this game to be ridiculously difficult. but this is not how you do it. these developers spite you, and do not actually think about whether or not you are having fun.
