Underrated and often overlooked in favour of its sequels. It's very different to the modern perception of what a Far Cry game is, being that its a linear level-based shooter that provides the player with multiple paths for completing a level. Although it should be said that some levels are a lot more linear than others.

The game has a destintive cheesy, fun 90s action movie vibe, similar to the original Resident Evil 4 and I absolutely love it. Make no mistake, its got its problems, but its a one-of-a-kind shooter that I highly recommend. One of my all-time favourites.

If you're planning on picking it up, I would highly advise you download the FarOut Widescreen patch on ModDB, which improves widescreen support and fixes the infamous wall-hacking enemies bug, among other bug-fixes. Don't forget to add -mod:FarOut_Widescreen to your launch options.

This game really isn't bad at all, despite what many have said. Sure, it's a massive departure from the games that came before (likely due to the developers not wanting Saints Row to be compared to GTA), but it's hardly as weak as it's been made out to be. It stays true to the tone and humour of the previous games. I personally love it.
