I've been playing for a while now before its launch on Steam, and Arcanists is the one game I never grow tired of. It plays like Worms with a little more variety. There are 16 spellbooks available, each with 12 spells each, and allows you to mix-and-match from all of them to create your own 16-slot book. I highly recommend the Elementals gamemode, which allows you to select one complete spellbook to play on top of your custom book. There are a variety of spell types: balls, bombs, bolts, shields, auras, teleports, and more. There are minions you can summon and transformations for your arcanist.

Arcanists supports up to 24-player matches, supports teams or free-for-all, and provides ranked play. My experiences with other players outside of my own usual group have all been very pleasant; I have found people to be friendly as well as willing and even eager to help out newer or less-skilled players.

It's interesting for the first hour and then there's not a lot to make you want to keep coming back, but it's free so why not.
