Completed it one long weekend sitting - and that's a compliment, not a criticism. It's very chill, even with all the cosmic horror. The fishing and dredging mechanics are engaging enough without being tedious. The story gives you just enough to keep you intrigued without overloading you with exposition. Overall a rare and really satisfying experience.

It's an Early Access game, so obviously there's still work to do. I'd recommend looking at the negative reviews with that in mind.

For an Early Access though, it's in an incredibly good place. If you enjoy building, there's already a robust system in place - with a strong base mechanic that you can see them building on. The exploration element is very satisfying - there's so many unique pieces of gear to find, that you feel rewarded when you stumble across a campsite and find something special.

I love the inventory management and the items currently available. Seeing your pile of stuff grow is incredibly satisfying, as it tells a story of your journey and just looks generally very cool.

The survival element, while not massively taxing, is in quite a solid place. There's seasons that provide changes, gathering resources, hunting etc. Quite keen to see how this develops, as the seasons themselves are very well done (the snow was an expected surprise) and I can see them becoming more unique as more updates are added (I'd maybe suggest making them all a bit longer).

The game is quite creepy, and I kinda hope they find ways to make it creepier - new mutants, unique events etc.

Areas that need improvement are the story, which is definitely in an early stage. It starts quite well, feeling quite mysterious but it's obvious the later stages need to be fleshed out. Combat is fine, but there definitely needs to be some tweaking with attack frequency.

AI pathing, especially for friendly characters, is undeniably terrible when in relation to player made elements. Seems more of a navmesh issue, where it's not recognising some player-made bits as being obstacles. It seems decent enough in the general environment however.

Finally, parts of the map feel a bit empty, especially near the two small islands. There's still things to discover, but fewer. However, again - Early Access, so understandable.

Overall this game is already fairly complete, if under-polished in some areas. I'm really excited to see how this develops.

It's good. Trust the 'Overwhelmingly Positive' reviews - recommend you don't google or search for any info about the game and just go in blind.

It's Warhammer 40k + Doom with a bit of jank, - the jank, for me, is completely forgiven for how well the gunplay and entire 'Necromunda' aesthetic is reproduced. The weapons are satisfying, and FEEL like you imagine that would. The world is gorgeous (assuming you like industrial hellscapes). I play a lot of the tabletop game, and this is exactly how I imagine it.

If you are in any way interested in the 40k setting, you'll adore this game. If you're new to the setting, you potentially will. Either way, you'll probably wanna pick-up the skirmish game after playing this.

I'm already planning a Venator gang led by a dude with a plasma gun and his pet cyber-mastiff.

If you've been on the fence - play it. My recommendation would be to ensure you've got a few days off to finish it, as it's best enjoyed in one or two intense sittings imo.

Writing this from the perspective of someone who plays the tabletop game on a very regular basis. TLDR: it's good, but ultimately not for everyone.

Gonna get the negatives out of the way first:

- The AI is quite dumb and generally I'd say this is a game best played with friends/online. Secondly, the weapons lack the lethality of their tabletop versions, especially the heavy weapons. The last one is more just noticeable as I play the tabletop a lot.

So now the good stuff:

- It's captures the essence of Necromunda perfectly and the gang customisation options are incredible. I especially like the female Goliath and Orlock models, and hope that GW take some inspiration for future miniatures.

- The maps look great and there are many hazards & pieces to interact with. Ziplines are especially something I didn't realise I wanted in Necromunda until I experienced them. You can also sabotage conduits and interact with a number of other things.

- The character and gang development is different from the tabletop game, but is very well done. There are 5 different 'careers' that decide on the types of weapons the ganger can equip. You also get a deeper customisation than compared to the tabletop in regards to traits and a huge number of skills.

- The trading post/shop is randomised after a couple of games, so you never know what you'll find. This sort of mimics the post game actions from the tabletop, so it works imo.

- I've not had enough time to delve into the campaign (you get an actual narrative story and also your own created gang has their own perpetual campaign, similar to Blood Bowl 2) - but it's quite robust. Mimics the tabletop game in that there are quite a varied number of operations (scenarios) to choose from.

- There is a system similar to house favours called 'infamy' that operates in much the same way, giving you boons. These need to be unlocked via challenges, and there are loads of them.

- Regarding the weapons and items - everything is there, and though it operates differently due to the different underlying system, it's familiar. Chems for example: spur allows you make more tactical actions and slaught reduces the cost of melee attacks.

- Finally, all the weapons are there. As mentioned as a negative, they do seem less deadly. I believe it's more of a design choice, as they want your fighters to be deadly due to the skills they develop, not because you just gave them a heavy bolter. This would be something I'd say they should buff, especially regarding heavy weapons and plasma. Could still be keep with the design choice they've taken, but making these weapons scarier would go a long way.

So overall I'm enjoying it and am really excited to get stuck into the campaign more. Hoping it finds its audience, similar to how Blood Bowl has it's dedicated fans and support.

If the negative reviews didn't give it away - this game can be confusing. I think the main issue is (including the lack of tutorial) that most people don't realise that this is a puzzle game, just with an unusual interface and roguelike elements thrown in.

You either play it and 'get' how the conventions of the game work and therefore are able to figure out puzzles (and secrets) or you don't and get very frustrated. Now if this is a fault of the developers or the player, is ultimately subjective (I argue the player - as people need to slow down, read and put on their problem-solving Cthulu-hat).

I've really enjoyed the journey and still have some stuff to do in game. The writing is incredible. You're gonna see 'Lovecraftian' elements throughout the entire experience (it IS about founding a cult after all).

Not for everyone, obviously - but I highly recommend it if you like a deep narrative, roguelike elements and are reasonably decent as figuring out puzzles.
