Great aesthetic, great storytelling, interesting mechanics, great soundtrack.

Inconsistent crashes and constant restarting killed the flow of the game for me. Multiple places where you can softlock yourself and waste 30-40 minutes because of random chance. The game is hard which is fine, but replaying the first few places two or three dozen times gets old very fast. I think the game has some really interesting content, but the grind is too much. Not even going to knock points for the game being brutal both in content and difficulty; the randomness and unforeseeable difficulty spikes make the game feel like bashing your head against the wall until you eventually get lucky with finding the right items and landing critical hits.

Difficulty may need some additional work. Boss 1 of standard mode is nigh unbeatable for me but is an easy 7-0 win on casual mode. Early game content can be quite repetitive as well, really needs more early game variety especially if you are expected to replay the first area many times. Gameplay overall is fun, but definitely could benefit from a little more variety in the first area. Music and sound effects need a bit more fleshing out (hopefully early access means they will continue to work on that).

Game has really solid bones, but needs more meat on them to really make this game worth $20, as it is I can't recommend this game, but if the devs really pump content into it, I definitely could change my mind and buy a few copies for my friends.

Pokemon with a splash of Zelda. Very good art with excellent music. Can be a bit confusing but encourages exploration to solve problems.

Only negative is the prominence of Mr. X. Makes the game so much less horrifying when you know you'll always need to haul ass through areas rather than giving yourself a chance to be actually scared of unknown threats.

Unexpectedly excellent. Great writing, art, and music.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ port, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. Everyone who says this is one of the greatest games of all time do not understand the concept that if a game isn't fun to play, the player won't play long enough to see any of the interesting parts.
