The fortress of Dr Radiaki is a first person shooter from Merit studios the same studio which would release harvester two years later this game was released in 1994 and uses the wolfenstein3d engine

Story.

A mad scientist named Dr. Radiaki is going to destroy the world unless 1 billion is deposited in his account.You play as special agent Mack banner the only one according the the games opening cutscene has the balls and bat to stop him you arrive via a submarine to his island as the game begins as you enter the garden.

Gameplay .

This updated version allows you to use mouse for aimming which is an inprovement from the original version the game.The level design is maze like requiring you to find keys and pullling switches to progress to find the level exits.You will encounter enemies ranging from soliders,ninjas,samuria,mutatated rats and lizard men, robots with tank treads,robots carrying rocket launchers with toasters for heads,flame troopers and lastly clonded germen babbies for some reason.the levels and confusing to navigate since the textures are all the same the game has an in game map but you need to hug the walls to show up clearly on the map and even finding switches to progress requires alot of back tracking atleast the enemies stay dead.Keys come in a range of colours ranging from yellow,b;ue,red,black and theres a note that only opens door with what looks like key pad on them the good part is some keys transfer to the next level which is nice.

music and sound.

Music in the game only has a few tracks which are fine for the most part the sound effects are chessey like making boing sound when a door requires switch to open also the enemies hasve funny death phrases ranging from the ninjas calling you a rose bud or saying the horror upon death the samurai will say things llike my shame before plunging their swords into their chests and the robots say something russian also the flame tropers say stay of the ktchen and so forth it makes no sense but this game doesnt make sense to be honest i think this game was made to poke fun and the other fps games like wolfenstein doom etc which had a more serious tone.

pros and cons.

Pros the game can be funny at times the cutsences with ratark and radiaki can be amusing.

Cons level design is fustrating and without the in game map you will be running around trying to find youre way to the exit the enemies are annoying at times and some areas have up to nine or ten enemies in area ammo
for you're weapons can scarce and health is the big problem health pick ups are rare which makes you have save scum in areas just to complete a level also i found times when i got shoot through walls which was fustrating.


Would i recommend this game.

Well i played this game when i was very young and i failed to even finish the second level in the sewers cause of lack of health pick ups and the poor mouse controls of the original version this is the better version and if you want to try out a game from a diffrent era of gaming try this one out however you will have to keep in mind this is not a game where going in guns blasting will work you need to try and lure enimies out and pick them off one at a time otherwise you just die over and over again is this game as good as doom,wolfenstein or blake stone hell no but it has a special place in my hart since my mom got me this game when i was younger.

rating 7 out of 10 wish io could have a higher rating but the level design and enemy placement can make this game a chore to play at times.
