As of now (october 2021) some things have changed. I got used to what this game is now. And yeah I still play it. If you go play it: just don't be one of the following two people:
1. People who think that the XP level represents someones skill. Without the level reset I'd be at over level 700 and there are still lots of players better than me. The XP level just represents how long you've been playing. Not how good you've been playing.
2. People who connect their controller, grab themself an AR and forget that portals exist enitrely. Running around with the over-aim-assisted AR and doing nothing else is not just annoying for your enemies it also a pain for you mates. Just play the game how it's meant to be played: pick up power weapons and use portals.

A honest comment by one of the longest playing players out there.

I've picked this game up a day before launch over two years ago and hold it very close to my heart since.
For the longest amount of time I loved the game. I made friends within the community and played with the best of the best. If this review had been written in november 2020, I would have begged you to play the game. But now things are different.

The game has changed. Changed a lot.
I've been following development since day one and I witnessed Splitgate growing into what it is today. There have been a lot of changes along the way, some small, some bigger and some controversial as if the game went through puberty. And it slowly became an adult.
A lot of why I loved the game so much was its community. On the discord server we had fun nights in community customs and everyone mede good friends from all around the globe. Especially among the (semi) pros it was like a big family. But there always was this lingering poison on the game: It had too little players.
So a lot of us wished we would get more players and we thought that the day we go viral we would solve the last issues this game had. As advertising didnt work too well and even the "refer a friend" system failed to get lots of players all that was left was the almighty console launch.
A few weeks before the console launch I wrote into one of the discord servers that I don't want the game to blow up. And I got a lot of confused and angry responses to that. "Why wouldn't you want the game to grow?" they said. Well I had a this bad feeling deep in my stomach that after the game goes viral it will nolonger be the game I loved so much.

Fast forward a bit and the game shuts down to prepare for console launch...

Soon the open beta hits and things start going wrong very quickly:
1. Me and other people opened the game to realize that our level was gone. Some of our skins were gone. Titels were gone. What we got for compansation was ONE drop for ever skin we BOUGHT in the shop. (Reminder: a drop is just a lootbox with a random skin which will most likely be common or uncommon). I, who got most skins through arena pass and saw-packs (the early version of drops from pre season), basically got nothing.
2. As playercounts started to rise, the servers started to give up under the weight of players.
2.1 After a few days the servers couldnt handle the playercounts by far and had to be shut down.
2.2. A queue system was made to prevent too many players, but that meant that you would have to wait up to two hours just to launch the game.
3. The discord server filled up and the moderation team started to fail. As a result the server was closed off further and further.
4. With the new players came the trolls. For the first time after 650 hours playtime I experienced a real hacker. And the overall toxicity in the ingame chats started rising.
5. With the consoles there was a huge amount of controller players now playing splitgate with controller is a lot different from playing with mouse and keyboard, most notably the aim assist.
2.3. After a while they got the server issues sorted out but there were still lots of bugs and problems.
3.1. By the time the servers were fixed, the discord server was bascially unusabel (you could only write in #general and that with a 10min cooldown)

With the time passing more and more issues got fixed and we looked back at what changed and what we had left... But the one thing we all hoped that would get fixed by more players, the matchmaking and amount of bots per game, well - it got even worse. At least for me.

In retrospect I found out why I loved splitgate: because it had so little players. Now after the game going viral I am sad to announce that this is not what a game I love to play. I will nolonger tell my friends to play the game. I nolonger enjoy hitting the queue button. I nolonger have fun with friend because we randomly matched in the same lobby. I nolonger join a voicechat on discord to tell the pros in my team where I dropped the powerweapon after being killed for the hundredth time. I nolonger lead the german leaderboards with Cyde and Harold. I nolonger report translation issues to that same Harold. I nolonger write on the discord server. All that keeps me starting the game again and again is are my memories of great fun in the past. And the slight hope that it will return to what it once was.

Skyrim! Was soll ich sagen, es ist mein meist-gespieltes Spiel nach Minecraft und mein absolutes Lieblings-Spiel.
Woran das liegt? Ist eigentlich ganz einfach:
Die Modding-Communtiy. Es gibt für kein Spiel mehr Mods als für Skyrim und mit den richtigen Mods wird dieses 2011er Spiel besser als die meisten Modernen (ich rede von 2019). Und zwar in jeder Hinsicht: Gameplay, Grafik, Sound, Immersion...
Es gibt einfach nichts was man nicht mit Mods in Skyrim machen kann! Und damit meine ich NICHTS (aufgrund der Webseite LoversLab...)
Und wenn demnächst der SkyrimTogherMod rauskommt wird Skyrim das prisgünstigste und dabei wahrscheinlich beste OpenWorld-Multiplayer-RPG das es gibt!
