Just not what this studio does well. Gone are the nuanced and developed characters, the immersive and varied gameplay of the studio's previous offerings. Instead we have triple-A writing cliches, sleepwalking gunplay, and repetition without earned purpose. Just unfortunate all around.

It's hard to recommend. Short, overpriced, mechanically restrictive and clearly low-budget as compared to Dishonored 2 or Prey, both of which came out less than a year before. What was clearly meant to be a transitional experience in the world of Dishonored ended up becoming the final one, what with Arkane going the way of the dodo, and it is a lamentable wet fart to go out on. That said, if you're a diehard fan and it's on sale, pick it up.

Tentative yes. Just enough hype moments and aura (and fan service) to make the lackluster story worth it. Kasuga gets completely overshadowed in his own game, and it's way too long, but the JRPG mechanics feel good and the characters are way too entertaining to skip

Easily my favorite deckbuilder I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Unique and beautiful art style, catchy music, and extremely enjoyable and rewarding progression. Pick it up!

look, yakuza 3 gets a lot of ♥♥♥♥, especially this remaster, and it is overblown in a lot of respects. that being said, this is not a $20 purchase. this is a $10 purchase at best, and that's if you're desperate.

QLoc's 'remaster' of this game utterly breaks the combat and makes it a boring, tedious chore, and only so many of the issues can be fixed with modding. Modding cannot fix, however, the lackluster minigames and insane bloat this game is afflicted with. none, and i mean NONE of the minigames feel good, there's too many substories, and out of all 119(!!!) of them, maybe twenty are actually worth playing. buy this one on a deep discount, fix its issues with mods like the Rebalanced mod or Rising Dragon, and don't bother with most of the side content. cannot wait for this game to get a kiwami

i love the LAD games, but definitely skip this one. major problems abound, including:

1. so, much. grind. the game's reliance on skill tree upgrades to increase combat damage is good, but all but one of the styles rely on weapon damage to bring damage up to snuff as well. how do you get good weapons? grind hundreds of thousands of units of currency, collect materials on stacked rng systems, and you'll still feel like you hit like a wet noodle. why? well, that brings up complaint 2 and 3.

2. brawler. just as a fighting style. has some of the most useful counters and heat actions in the game but does utter garbage for damage. even the tiger drop is generally useless in this game, but fully leveling the style is necessary for major sections of side content (as well as essential upgrades like faster heat build, quickly changing styles, and health upgrades)

3. the engine and combat. like a dragon: ishin! was remade by a studio that is not RGGStudios, and consequently, they didn't use any of RGG's in-house engines like the dragon engine or yakuza 5's engine (the engine that the original ishin!, yakuza 0, kiwami, and of course yakuza 5's gameplay are based on). for gameplay this means two things: firstly, juggles are gone. completely gone. enemies do not bounce off of walls or the floor, enemies can't be cornered for long combos, etc. secondly, the rules of engagement are completely screwed up; frequently bosses and enemies will turn around during a backturned rush combo, resulting in frustratingly inconsistent damage opportunities. all of this compounds with the following...

4. you feel weak. damage always feels too low, and enemy damage always feels punishingly high. the only way to remedy this seems to be dropping the difficulty down, but as someone who has played many many past LAD games on hard or even legend difficulties, it is a stark and frustrating difference. only a few mistakes can result in complete failure, but your damage is so low and your combos so slow, damage windows so inconsistent, that playing the game itself feels like spinning a slot machine.

in conclusion: this game sucks, play literally any other LAD/RGG/Yakuza game to have an infinitely better time. if you're a newcomer, play yakuza 0. peace
