It's difficult for me to find anything new to say about Dark Souls as a series, or about this particular installment, or laud it with some praise it hasn't already been given. After loving the original Dark Souls to pieces and then going on to play Demon's Souls and Bloodborne, I actively avoided Dark Souls 2 for the longest time because I was sure I wouldn't enjoy it, and, after finally sitting down with it, I was right. With that being said, Dark Souls 3 feels like a happy marriage of Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, and Bloodborne, and a return to the game feel that Dark Souls 2 departed from in a few respects. I can't recommend this game enough to anyone who might be on the fence about playing it.

I nominated this game for the 2017 Haunts My Dreams award for staying on my mind well into the night after I stopped playing, going over enemy attack patterns and untested routes and strategies in my head until I fell asleep dreaming about besting The Forgotten King on New Game +++
