PROS:
- 4 Teams Makes KoTH, Payload Race and Arena a lot more fun
- New weapons that feel unique in gameplay and are (mostly) balanced
- Optimized to run smoother than Live TF2
- New hurt sounds make it easier to determine WHAT you're getting hit by (there's a different hurt sound from getting hit by bullets, melee, fire and explosives)
- VIP game mode and the Civilian are great additions.
- Random crits are disable by default, but can be re-enable.
- Better anti-cheat than Valve's VAC system, though only on official servers.
- QoL changes like the Sniper Rifle having tracer rounds, unique weapons changing the character's appearance for easier read-ability on loadout, make counter-play easier and a lot more fun.

CONS:
- Lag is a major issue in servers with random fluctuating pings. (general net-code needs improvement)
- Random unexplained crashes
- Certain weapons when utilized in a certain fashion feel unfair to play against (Demo spamming Mine Layer, Spies shooting Traq Dart from long range, etc.)
- If you had an issue with certain players' use of voice and text chat (saying bigotry and the sort), it not much different here; at times, its worse.
- Due to it still being the Source engine, the chances of cheats being developed to bypass Steph's anti-cheat are a possibility
- This is basically TF2 from 2009-2013 in terms of gameplay; so, no cosmetics, almost none of the Live TF2 weapons with the exception of a few (except for custom item servers), and none of your inventory transfers over. This one personally isn't an issue for me, but for some it may be a turn-off.

If you're someone who played in the early eras of TF2 or someone who thinks a soft restart was needed for the game to continue thriving, this mod is for you. If not, then you might want to pass it up. As for me, I like it, but I want to see more of what the devs have planned first before I can recommend it to everyone.

Edit: witnessed people using bhop cheats and triggerbot in lobbies; either the servers i joined weren't protected or the cheats have been updated to bypass Steph's Anti-Cheat.

Pros:

- Great soundtrack; it's a bop.
- Unlocking items, upgrades weapon/tome slots is streamlined via silver coins and the shop.
- Simple controls; only run, jump, slide and whatever your character's special skill is. Makes it easy to pick up.

Cons:

- Level structures are random, making reaching the boss portal in a reasonable time more frustrating than it should be.
- Unlocking new characters is a three-step process; you have to find/beat/unlock the character AND THEIR WEAPON before you can BUY them.
- Enemies with ranged attacks have random attack patterns and are too fast; reacting to their pattern changes requires split-second reactions faster than a human is capable of.
- Bosses have too much health to kill within a reasonable time frame before the ghosts show up.
- Difficulty is WAY TOO F$%KING HIGH; PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to make any progression. 17 hours in with 6 different characters, the best tome/weapon build possible, and nearly filled out weapon and tomes slots, and I'm still stuck on Tier 2 Forest and Tier 1 Desert. Any dents to get any closer feels f$%king futile because the other issues mention adds to the buttf$%kery that this game's difficulty curve.

This game's brutal Kazio-level ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ difficulty spike is the sole factor in ruining my experience with this title; it's the main reason why I GENUINELY cannot recommend this game. It doesn't help that all enemies can climb walls, stack up on top of each other, and have their hurt boxes EXIST 4-8 FRAMES AFTER DEATH (which has ended a multitude of my runs prematurely).

Until those issues get addressed, I suggest avoiding Mega Bonk; but if you're a masochist or you just hate yourself, go for it. It's affordable.

I'd like to play this game, but between internet connections to other players randomly cutting off, the game freezing/softlocking AND forgetting things like me being a community member and not loading my player correctly...it's fair to say this game isn't functioning like it's suppose to.

A simple yet challenging indie-game, based on surviving on a raft that you & your friends must expand to rather resources and have a better chance at survival.

A great single-player game, and a potentially amazing multiplayer game.

The Bot Crisis that has been going on since the Meet Your Match Update (which it launched in 2016) has gotten worse with every single year that has passed, and you, Valve, have done little to ♥♥♥♥ all to fix the problem; mute free-to-play, upgrading the game to 64-bit, even the micro-patches they don't tell you about in the blog posts have done nothing to stop the bots from plaguing this game.

It's gotten to the point where there are more bot accounts, idle farming items (which you were against, Valve), and cheating to ruin games, in TF2 than human players are playing the game on an average basis. And this has been happening for EIGHT. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. YEARS. HUMAN PLAYERS CHEATING has gotten more common over the past EIGHT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ YEARS.

The only response we got was a damn tweet spouting the "we hear you" bullcrap like every marketing intern does for any company.

These bot hosters have doxxed and swatted those who try to stop their cyber-criminal activity, all while YOU PROFIT OFF OF IT by adding community-made items with each micro-update.

And before you think "Well, just go play Counter-Strike-", NOPE; the bots have started to affect Counter-Strike: Global Offensive AND Counter-Strike 2. They've gone after ANY Source game that makes VALVe money, and I'm assuming the same will happen with Deadlock once it releases. Hell, I'm not even sure Garry's Mod or Left 4 Dead 2 would be safe after this.

I don't blame anyone who's sick of this game and has quit, nor anyone who's being doom and gloom about it, but Valve; it's your job as a company, whether private or not, to prove a FUNCTIONING SERVICE to us consumers. You've been successful with that via Steam...but not with your games, and it's about time you started giving a ♥♥♥♥ about up-keeping them. All any of us who are dealing with these bots is one thing for all Source games, and one thing for TF2 in general; an anti-cheat system for Source that actually works to ban cheaters, and an adjustment to TF2's casual mode so that dealing with the bots, cheaters, and bad-actors that slip through the cracks will be easier for all parties playing a match.

There's not a single other game that's fully like Team Fortress; both in game-play, style, and content. To see all of the hard work we as a community and YOU as a developer have put into this underrated gem, this timeless masterpiece, go down the toilet because you wanted to play with the shiny new slinky? The charade is getting old, and I'm about tired of seeing it. You're the ones up to bat, VALVe; it's time to PLAY BALL.

#FixTF2

Update 6/28/24: ...seems like the bots are gone for now. Keep it up, VALVe.

Update 7/18/24: Still no bots. Still keeping it a negative review because matchmaking is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful; this game doesn't need a Glicko system, and I'd like to play at least one casual round where I can experiment and practice with a class without having to try hard my ass off because you paired me with sweat lords who no-life the game 24/7.

Update 11/24/25: ...The idle bots are back. And none of my reports are going through. Someone at this company, please do your job.
