I enjoyed We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie even more than the first game. It has more stages, more variety within those stages, better graphics and music, and additional mechanics like rolling up cousins who you can then play as.

If you aren't familiar with Katamari games you are basically a small prince of all cosmos who rolls a ball where everything smaller than the diameter of said ball sticks to it, becoming part of the ball itself which then improves your diameter and lets you pick up more stuff. The level goal is usually get as big as possible or reach a certain size as quickly as possible within a maximum time limit. Depending on the goal you can also usually keep playing after its achieved and try to get a high score. The scope of the game starts in a one room apartment and keeps growing till you are rolling up the entire world.

I really enjoyed it and I could easily see myself replaying it in the future.

Dune: Imperium is the digital version of the board game of the same name for 1-4 players. Its a deckbuilding game so you start with a deck of 10 cards and a leader with a special ability. During agent rounds you use cards to go to various spaces on the board and collect rewards like a worker placement game. During reveal rounds you reveal all remaining cards in your hand and use the influence provided to purchase new cards. Once everyone has revealed there is a conflict phase and rewards are distributed and after that a new round starts.

I had already played the physical board game with friends so i wasn't sure how much longevity I would get out of the digital version, but when it came up in a humble board game bundle I couldn't say no. Beyond just playing the game with bots there is a scenario mode with different rules that make the game harder/more interesting. As well as a skirmish mode where players compete against bots and are awarded a score based on conditions met, with a season lasting 10 games and all scores totted up for a final placement. You can also play online against humans, if that's your thing.

I've been enjoying skirmish mode the most and played the scenario mode to practice getting better at it. I haven't bought the DLC and don't know if I will or not, but I've played the base game way more than I expected to, so the purchase was well worth it for me.

Hades is an Isometric Action Roguelite from Supergiant Games, the makers of Bastion. You play as Zagreus of Greek Myth, the son of Hades who has had enough of his overbearing father and decided to attempt to escape Tartarus. The Gods of Mount Olympias have been notified of your purpose (and having up until that point not known of your existence) and while they cannot get involved directly, they offer their boons to aid you in your attempts.

Each run is an escape attempt. Any Boons or Coins you collect are lost on death, but there are a number of other currencies that carry over between runs. The "path" you take out is fixed but sometimes you are given a choice of reward for the next room. Most rooms are challenges that involve having to defeat a certain number of enemies but there are peaceful rooms as well such as shops and fountains. One of my favorite part of the game is that although it is a hack n' slash affair you are rewarded for spatial awareness and use of tactics. Enemies can be pushed into traps or walls, damaging them. You can dash to avoid damage and clear small gaps. Decorative Urns are strewn about and most are useless but some may contain coins or healing items. Etc.

Between runs you return to The House of Hades where you can interact with various denizens of the afterlife. Talking to NPCs can give you more information about lore and offer up some side quests. When collecting a Boon from Mount Olympus that god will also give you around a paragraph of information. So the story will take shape in a more emergent way that reacts to the players actions. Also most if not all lines are voice acted and the actors do a great job portraying their respective characters. The characters become more endearing the more you find out about them and I found myself playing beyond the first completion so that I could better aid them in their requests.

I think Hades is a great game if you like Action Roguelites. I have often found myself seeing if I can complete just one more run to see if a different outcome or new combination of skills will work better. It takes multiple runs to finish the game and multiple finishes to complete the story so there is plenty of content to keep a player busy for as long as they wish.

Streets of Rogue is a Roguelike Sandbox city simulation split up into multiple levels. You play a member of the resistance tasked with overthrowing the corrupt Mayor of the city. At the beginning of a run you pick your class which dictates your starting items as well as a unique optional big quest to complete.

On each level you are given random tasks that you must complete to advance. Every third level also has a level wide event to shake things up. There are 5 groupings of these levels that make up the different biomes of the game with Mayor city being the final level.

The selection of different classes and procedural generation gives the game a high replayability. On top of that the characters have different behaviors in relation to each other, such as thieves trying to steal from people, gang members fighting with the opposite gang on sight, and cops getting violent with just about everybody. Each task can be solved in multiple ways and additional items can be unlocked with chicken nuggets that you get for free when you level up. Also on level up you can choose from one of three random perks with additional perks able to be unlocked.

I found Streets of Rogue to be difficult but satisfying. There is a lot to learn and sometimes you can just sit back and watch the city operate without getting involved. Playing as the different classes switches things up significantly enough that no two runs every really feel the same. Its a fun game that can be played at your own pace.

Tinykin is wonderful! Its a wholesome exploration/collection focused game where you play a tiny man running around a giant house helping a society of bugs. There's no health or combat, technically you can "die" but that just resets you to the last safe platform so you can try again. The levels are all based on rooms of the house so if you can see an objective then you can find a way to get to it, there's no set strategy and you are free to clear rooms in a nonlinear order. When you reach a hard to reach area you often get a shortcut or zip line to move around even easier. The Tinykin that follow you around feel like friends and they give a little cheer when you complete an objective. The music and graphics are excellent and I had so much fun playing that I decided to run around a bit and explore even more after I had finished. I would recommend Tinykin to everyone as it was an absolute joy to play.

Ring of Pain is a rogue-like dungeon crawler comprised entirely of cards. You always have two cards in front of you that you can interact with be it attack or stealth past enemies, take an item, drink a potion, or leave through an exit. If you interact with an enemy then they will usually attack you back. Killing an enemy gives you souls which act as the games currency. Your goal is to win the game by defeating the final boss which is also pick from two choices.

I think the thing that works for me is that you always have a choice, and generally are trying to pick the least bad option to continue your run. The game provides you with up front information on how much damage you will do to the enemy, who will attack first based on speed, and what is your chance to parry and take no damage. The dark art style makes the world feel unique. With three difficulty modes winning always feels like an accomplishment. One thing that didn't come across when I played the demo is that there can also be multiple exits on a floor, and taking a more treacherous path can lead to better rewards in the long run.

Ring of Pain probably isn't for everybody. But I would recommend it to someone who likes turn based rogue-likes and appreciates optimizing choices to put together the best run.

Had I realized Stacklands would be so engaging for me I would have bought it sooner, and it is well worth the full price of $5 in my opinion.

In Stacklands you start with a free booster that contains at least one villager, a location, and some resources. When you stack the villager on the location they work there in real time till all the resources are gone. So a tree provides wood and a rock provides stone which you can then place a villager on or combine with other resources to craft new objects or buildings which will help your overall colony. At the end of each in game day (called Moon) you need to feed your peeps or they will die of starvation. Several Moons in will see the opening of a portal in which monsters will attack your colony so you will need to craft weapons so your villagers can defend themselves. You can sell most cards at any time to give you coins which you then use to buy new packs, which give you access to new resources, locations, and ideas. Ideas are cards that show you a crafting recipe, so while you can craft things by experimenting, you don't have to. Once you master the basics the game is all about exploring new things while trying your best to survive. If all you villagers ever die then you must start over, but any ideas, quests, or crafting recipes will be saved in your log to be reviewed at any time. You can also pause the game at any time.

It took me 18 hours to get all the Steam Achievements and I thoroughly enjoyed playing the game. If Sokpop continues to add new content to the game then I will happily start again. The way the game systems come together is just wonderful.

Vault of the Void is a roguelike deckbuilder similar to Slay the Spire and others of its genre. You pick a character, pick your path on a map, gain more cards and artifacts as you slay monsters, until you either beat the final boss or die trying.

I would say that Vault of the Void is way more complex than other games I have played, but it eases you into its mechanics so that it never feels too overwhelming. Each character plays completely differently and each one also has two different starting builds which can differ greatly from each other. You keep every card you acquire in your backpack and your deck must always start with 20 cards throughout your run, so you can change your strategy as you see fit. You can also see most rewards on the map so you know what cards you will be getting before you fight the enemy and can plan accordingly.

I've really enjoyed the game so far, and it is in early access so there will be more balances and potentially more content down the line. I've definitely had the "problem" of doing one more run but what if I pick this character with that starting deck then maybe I will be more successful. I would recommend Vault of the Void to anyone who enjoys Slay the Spire or other games in the genre, but I would probably say that this shouldn't be your first roguelike deckbuilder if you haven't tried one of the others first.

Wingspan is the digital version of the popular tabletop game.

Your goal is to make the best bird habitat. On your turn you have 4 actions: Play a bird, gather food, produce eggs, or draw cards. Play a bird: You play a bird card from your hand to one of three habitats (forest, grassland, or wetlands) paying the food cost and egg cost. Each bird you play scores points and also increases your other actions. Gather food: You pick which of the 5 food types from the dice and keep it as a token. The dice can be rerolled when all dice faces are the same. You are able to gather more food tokens by playing more birds into the forest region of your habitat. Produce Eggs: You may place eggs on your bird cards. Eggs are needed to place birds in your habitats past the first bird. Any eggs left over at the end of the game are worth 1 point. The more birds you place in your grassland habitat the more eggs you can produce each turn. Draw cards: You may draw from three face up bird cards or from the face down deck. The more birds you have in the wetlands habitat the more cards you can draw. Additionally some birds have powers that trigger when you take that habitats action, some birds trigger on your opponents turn, and some birds have powers that trigger for all players so while the basic actions remain the same the way you choose to build your habitat and the birds you select give the game variety.

Additionally with the digital version you get the same great art from the board game but all the birds are animated, all the birds chirp or sing songs when you click on them, the bird facts are read out by a narrator the first time you play that card yourself, and the music added to the game is super relaxing and wholesome.

I really enjoy playing Wingspan as a casual game and win or lose I always feel a bit relaxed when playing. Ive only played against the bots so far but there is also online play against other humans as an option. I would highly recommend it if you are a fan of Euro-style board games or if you are looking for a chill game to play in your spare time.

Its a cute physics game that resembles what you might get if you fused Warioware with mini golf. The developers have consistently supported the game with new content and events. I tried to 100% it but found a handful of challenges too frustrating, but going through casually and completing each hole once will give you plenty to do with lots of varied game play.
