This game takes an interesting approach to horror that I wish more games would do. I believe the horror itself is not the monsters, not the jumpscares, not the sounds. It's Simon's descent to madness. You play as a shell of a 19 year old man, worn out by crippling loneliness and depression, and the game really makes you feel it. The lights are still on, train stations seem to be in order, everything looks like it was just recently abandoned, but it's just you for most of the game. Simon and his thoughts which get more and more twisted as the game progresses which reflects on the game's world, as Simon gets more obsessed with writing his book, and his loneliness, depression and hate against the world consume him. It's amazing to me how well the developers managed to convey this through the old Goldsrc engine. And it's free.

When they said "We're just not any survivors, we're the Vampire Survivors", my heart stopped. Truly one of the games of all time.

Gotta get a grip

overrated, devs do nothing about their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ launcher with lots of issues and the gameplay is no better, bf bad company 2 was more fun
