Really fun. Lots of resources to manage, storylines to find, battles to win, things to upgrade, pets to lovingly eat when I need a quick HP boost. Definitely a huge improvement over the first one, and really worth playing.

Great art, with inspirations from real world cultures and myths. Fun character designs (if you don't like any in the prototype, don't worry, there's only going to be dozens more once the full game gets made, including cross overs from other games like Shovel Knight, Guacamelee, Lab Zero's own Skullgirls... it's a long list.) Great music and sound design - the sound of your axe chunking into a wall, or punching an enemy is so satisfying. Smooth gameplay and combat with obvious inspirations from classics; fun to casually button mash and explore or master to really pump out the damage.

And this is all from a damn prototype. Imagine the game fully funded.

Well guess what, you can help make this a reality. Depending on how much you explore and how good you are at the combat it takes about 20 minutes to an hour to play the prototype, and it's free. You lose nothing, but have the chance of funding a true gem.

The obvious strength in music and visuals makes it easy to treat Transistor as the gaming equivalent of a snack, but the more patience you invest into the game the greater the reward and the more engaging it becomes. It's beautiful in every way - sound, art, gameplay, plot, and the way they all mesh together to turn what could be a good game into a fantastic game.

The music is tied closely to the plot and the art brings out the ethereal and ephemeral feeling of Cloudbank in an amazingly unique way, while reinforcing the overall atmosphere and excitement of the entire game. They underscore SuperGiant's (by now) trademark way of storytelling: letting the atmosphere speak for itself, with the narration more like a tour-guide than noisy friend.

The battle system is a fun hybrid of action and turn based - you can play as purely one or the other, but utilizing both makes for an interesting blend of twitch and chess-like strategy. With plenty of skills, a staggering amount of ways to combine them, and variable difficulty - you can choose which limitations to use and how to power up enemies to make the perfect personal challenge - battles never feel like a grind, and are always exciting. Since "function file" plot and character information is unlocked by using skills in different ways, it encourages you to constantly change up your playstyle, try everything, and keeps things interesting. Even going through the game multiple times feels fresh since both you and enemies retain your strength upon "recursion". The battles grow with you every time through.

However, to understand the game fully you need to play it through twice. If you love the game this is an easy plus, but requires investment. The depth of the plot doesn't really come out until right at the very end, and important details are in the ignorable function files. The ending might leave those expecting things to go a different way feeling unsatisfied, but I believe it fits the game perfectly, and suits the bittersweet inevitability hanging over the entire game.

Overall, highly recommended.

See you in the Country.

An odd hidden object game, it has a surprisingly engaging story and nice atmosphere. It ends abruptly, possibly in preparation for a sequel that never materialized, but nonetheless is a cool, future dystopian game. Sometimes the puzzles are a bit obscure; either hard to find or pure trial-and-error instead of having a clear method, but fairly fun and worth a look if you like old school point'n'clicks and a decent (if unfinished) story.

This game is gorgeous. The story is gorgeous, the art is gorgeous, the music is gorgeous (save yourself some time and just buy the game/OST pack right off) and the gameplay is... well, fun. It deserves every award it's won. It's a little short, but then the flaw of all good games is they eventually end. However, it does have some replay value with secrets only available in New Game Plus, and multiple endings.

I'll be frank: it's World of Warcraft plus Team Fortress 2 with jetpacks. Which you get right from the tutorial. And raindow armour dye. I think you can figure out the rest.
