I just recently finished Haven and I am being completely honest when I say that it was one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've had in a long time. Admittedly, this is primarily due to the Couples Update, so I'm pretty happy that I waited so long to play it. For those that don't know, the Couples Update makes queer relationships possible and this made my insatiable lesbian heart really happy. The level of care that Game Bakers put into that update was incredible and I'm truly thankful that they didn't just slap something together and throw it out there.

The story itself is fairly simple. You play as a couple, Yu and Kay, that have fled their homeworld to elope and end up landing on another planet, only to be stranded when an earthquake damages their ship. What unfolds afterwards is, simply put, an extremely fluffy romance novel in the form of a video game. You do explore and enter into battles, but there is no overt challenge to the game that requires grinding or anything of the sort. It's essentially witnessing the love that these two women (in my case) have for each other and it was SUCH a relief to see a sapphic love story portrayed like this.
What made it even better is that Game Bakers didn't skimp on the voice acting. Haven had solid voice actresses that made the already fantastic dialogue feel very natural. Everything just felt so well done.

The game is definitely not for everyone, though. Those who enjoy a challenge will not find that itch satisfied with Haven's pretty simplistic battle system and those who aren't fond of a sappy romance certainly won't like it either, but if those things don't bother you, there is enough here for me to fully recommend it. I picked Haven up on sale, but all the swoons, giggles, and kicks of my feet that this game provided me with more than make up for the full $25 pricetag.
