Having just finished my first playthrough last night with Ramona, I can say I like what they've got goin' on here! It's very much a love-letter to the River City Ransom franchise, and in my opinion is paced a bit better than River City Girls 2 is (which is another great beat-em-up if you like this one, but it can run a bit long in a singular playthrough if you're attempting to do everything in it by beat-em-up standards). If I had any criticisms that come to mind immediately it is that the Assist Characters seem a bit unbalanced? The Katayanagi Twins don't do enough healing to really be useful and Young Neil can absolutely decimate some of the bosses with little to no effort on your part for example. Aside from that though, safe recommendation from me!

Also Roxie has a Chun-Li color palette and also one that resembles Ayame from Tenchu so that's kinda neat =3

Edit: For whatever reason the game is now working for me again, so I can once again safely recommend it again!

I honest to goodness wanna recommend this game, because I do genuinely love it (I've played it on the Switch, and a few hours on Steam)... but I can't cuz it for some reason has just randomly stopped working for me (and taking a peek at the support forums, several others too). I click play, it'll act like it's going to load for a second, then completely shut down. I've tried every solution listed in the forums multiple times, for multiple months, but not a single one of them has worked.

IF this game works for you, 100% recommend, it is a very solid JRPG (two, in fact!) and the story, while at times slow, is really engaging when things get rolling. It has some Shin Megami Tensei vibes if that's more your thing.

I'm hopin' SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, will find a solution to it that makes the game work for those of us who can't play it anymore, or that Bandai Namco actually patches it (less likely, but I've been wrong before). If a fix/patch becomes possible, I'll happily change this review, but until then I can't in good faith recommend it.
