When he stood before the thorns of the Erdtree, he realized the truth—
that a maiden’s true purpose is to burn the thorns for the one who becomes the Elden Lord.
He had to burn his maiden.

Either out of love, or duty, Vyke refused to burn his maiden.
He opted instead to venture far below the capital,
and have his flesh seared by the Two Fingers.

This way, he would be able to burn the thorns himself—and spare his maiden.
The only downside? His sanity.

Vyke followed through,
the fingers marking his skin and armor,
but when Vyke returned—his maiden was dead...

We only know of one other who was classed in such a manner.
His name was Vyke, the Dragon Spear.
