I recommend Age of Mythology: Retold, I think it's a really good remake with a lot of new content and changes to keep things fresh. A few units were renamed and about a dozen techs were replaced or removed. AoM Extended Edition is still available on Steam for the same price as this, so if you want something closer to the original game, buy that instead. Retold doesn't have any of the upgrades and additions from Extended Edition, either (no day/night cycle, no Workshop support, no Physician/Khopesh/Bogsveigir/Onager units). There is no Chinese pantheon yet but when it is released it'll most likely be different from the old one. They're two separate versions of Age of Mythology so you should buy whichever one you prefer.

A great game all around, I must have played it 20 times on PS3 and on Origin before picking it up on Steam. A huge amount of the problems that people have with this game (i.e. the ending) can be fixed and improved with mods.

Reviewing this after playing through the remaster on PS4. It might be just because of nostalgia, but this game still holds its own after 10 and a half years and is still one of the best games in the franchise - up there with (in my opinion) World at War and Black Ops 2. There are still a good amount of people in online lobbies, but you're probably out of luck if you want to play something besides the most popular gamemodes (TDM, Dom, S&D, FFA). And, if you didn't know, the remaster is only the campaign, so if you want to relive the One Man Army noobtubers, Intervention quickscopers, silenced UMP45s, and akimbo Model 1887s, get this one.

If you've never played MW2 - or any Call of Duty - at all, I would still definitely recommend this game. The campaign is fun, spectacular, and memorable, and it started the trend of badass campaigns in Call of Duty: big explosions, a Russian invasion of Washington, D.C., and one of the playable characters pulling a knife out of his own chest and killing someone by throwing it in his eye. A great game and I highly recommend it.

The kind of game that you keep coming back to, year after year. Been playing AoM since I was a really little kid, and I pre-ordered the extended edition once I heard of it (I was an 8th grader buying it with my mom's credit card, but still). I'm not an RTS player by any means, but I still definitely recommend this game. It's fun, not too tough, and there are plenty of cheat codes if you want to be more laid-back while playing (among my favorites are: L33T SUPA H4X0R, GOATUNHEIM, BAWK BAWK BOOM, O CANADA, TINFOIL HAT)

The extended edition here adds all the stuff you see in the trailer, but it also comes with the original game's expansion pack, The Titans, as well as The Golden Gift, a short campaign that was a free download on the game's website. The Tale of the Dragon DLC is new to EE, and adds the Chinese as a playable civilization. I haven't bought it, but apparently it did have several bugs that weren't fixed until recently. If anything I guess I'd advise waiting for TotD to go on sale.

I have only two gripes with this version of the game: the iconic opening cinematic is a new edited version instead of the original, and it doesn't seem to run too well on low-end computers. I'm talking LOW-end -- my last two computers were home laptops with 2 GB and 4 GB of RAM respectively and I averaged 15-20 FPS with all of the settings turned low or off. If either of those are a deal-breaker, then you should get the original version. It won't have workshop support but AoMHeaven is still up and you can still get mods for it from there.
